GE Appoints Grid Solutions Chief

GE Renewable Energy has announced that Heiner Markhoff has been named vice-president and CEO of Grid Solutions, effective March 20, 2020.According to a press release, Markhoff has a track record of growth, transformation and operational performance in diverse global businesses. He will be based in Paris, France. Technip Bags Sasol’s Furnace Contract

Technip was awarded by Sasol a contract to provide engineering and procurement for eight proprietary Ultra Selective Conversion (USC®) furnaces (1) for a world-scale ethane cracker and derivatives complex to be located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. The award follows Sasol’s selection of Technip’s proprietary ethylene technology and FEED (2) for the cracker, which will produce an estimated 1.5 million tons per annum of ethylene. This award validates Technip’s strategy of early involvement to design an effective project execution scheme, bringing value to clients. Technip’s operating center in Houston, Texas, USA, will execute the project.

Pentair Reports 3Q 2014 Sales of $1.8 bi

Pentair plc today announced third quarter 2014 sales of $1.8 billion. Sales were up 3 percent compared to sales for the same period last year. Third quarter 2014 earnings per diluted share from continuing operations ("EPS") were $1.00, up 22 percent from adjusted EPS of $0.82 in the third quarter of last year. On a GAAP basis, the company reported EPS of $0.81 in the third quarter of 2013. Adjusted EPS and operating income exclude repositioning costs, acquisition and redomicile-related expenses, gain/loss on sale of a business and certain tax items. NSRP Approves $1.2M for New Projects

As part of the National Shipbuilding Research Program’s (NSRP) core mission to reduce the costs associated with Navy shipbuilding and repair, the NSRP Executive Control Board has selected 14 new research and development projects for award, totaling approximately $1.2M. These projects will be executed under the purview of the 10 NSRP communities of practice known as the Ship Production Panels. Focus and interest among panel members regularly reveal relevant project opportunities which may not be well suited for larger-scale funding via the primary NSRP solicitation process. The Board therefore typically sets aside an amount of money each year to fund relatively small (less than $100K), short-term (12 months or less) projects recommended by the Panel Chairs.

NSRP Elects New Panel Chair

The National Shipbuilding Research Program's Business Process Technologies Panel elected Ken Clarke as its new Panel Chair, and Jim Rohr as returning Vice Chair, during its December 12, 2003 Panel Meeting held at the "Automation in Shipbuilding Conference" in New Orleans, Louisiana. Clarke is an employee of Northrop Grumman Newport News. He has held management positions at Newport News in Aircraft Carrier New Construction and Overhaul Nuclear Engineering, Waterfront Trades Administration, Submarine Overhaul Program Office, International Commercial Ship Marketing, Naval Business Technology Marketing, and Human Resources. NSRP Approves 11 Ship Production Projects

The Executive Control Board of the National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) has selected 11 new Ship Production Panel projects, totaling approximately $756,000, designed to reduce the costs of Navy shipbuilding and ship repair. These relatively short, low cost projects were selected to complement portfolios of larger R&D projects funded through NSRP in responding to industry-consensus priorities and the Navy customer’s research areas of greatest interest.
