MacGregor Wins $50m Cargo Handling Order from HHI

MacGregor believes it is time to think differently, overturning the long-held assumption that cargo profile, cargo handling and cargo securing are considered only at the end of the main ship design process

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it has received further orders, worth around $50 million, for optimized cargo handling systems from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd. in South Korea. The latest contract stems from the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) exercising its options for six more A-14-series and one more A-18-series container vessels from the yard, taking the total number of 14,500 TEU container ships to eleven and 18,800 TEU containerships to six. The original order, announced in November 2013, saw UASC order five A-14-series and five A-18-series container vessels.

Schlumberger Announces Q1 Results

Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) today reported first-quarter 2014 revenue from continuing operations of $11.24 billion versus $11.91 billion in the fourth quarter of 2013, and $10.57 billion in the first quarter of 2013. Income from continuing operations attributable to Schlumberger, excluding charges and credits, was $1.59 billion—a decrease of 11% sequentially but an increase of 23% year-on-year. quarter of 2013. MacGregor Receives Huge Order from Hyundai Heavy

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order worth $77 million (USD) for optimized cargo handling systems for five A-14-series and five A-18-series container vessels from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in South Korea. The 14,000 TEU and 18,000 TEU ships are built for the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and they are scheduled for delivery between 2014 and 2015. Alaska Pilots Choose Navi-Sailor 4000

Transas USA has secured orders from more than 50 of the marine pilots associated in the three Alaska Pilot Regions for Navi-Sailor 4000 Pilot PPU software. The scope of supply included the NS 4000 Pilot software, Alaska TX-97 Electronic Chart coverage and a product software upgrade program. NS 4000 Pilot software was initially developed in cooperation with the Pilot Services of the Swedish Maritime Authorities. Based on the IMO type approved Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS software, the NS 4000 Pilot has been adopted to meet the specific requirements of maritime pilots. While certain ECDIS functions not required in pilotage have been removed to streamline the user interface, a wide range of pilot specific features have been added.
