New Projects for Boksa Marine Design

Florida based naval architecture and marine engineering firm Boksa Marine Design said it has kept bust over the past few months, with many of its 2017 projects having progressed from design and engineering phases on some and build-to-water on others. Boska provided an update on several of those projects. J&M Metalworks of Green Cove Springs, Fla. has been working on the initial phases of construction of a 140’ passenger vessel. Jensen Maritime wins Design & Engineering Contract for U.S. Cruise Ships

Jensen Maritime was recently selected to provide detailed design and production engineering services for two, 100 passenger, U.S. flagged, coastal cruise ships for Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. The twin screw diesel ships, will be built at the Washington state shipyard of Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) and have planned delivery dates of second quarter 2017 and 2018. Once complete, the $94.8 million duo will operate tours between Baja, Costa Rica and Panama during the winter months and southeast Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Canada during the summer months. For this project, Jensen will utilize its innovative 3D modeling capabilities to allow Lindblad the unique opportunity to confirm the vessel’s layout, maintenance envelopes and operational access prior to construction.

Serco Awarded US Navy Production & Engineering Contract

Serco Inc wins production & engineering services contract in support of United States Navy's Automated Digital Network Systems (ADNS). The five year contract exercises a one-year base period and four one-year option periods, with a total value of $68 million, if all options are exercised. Under the contract, Serco will perform hardware integration and testing to deliver the Navy's newest ADNS configuration in support of Shore, Ship and Submarine installations. US Navy Radar Jamming Contract for KOR Electronics

Mercury Computer Systems' subsidiary KOR Electronics gets a US Navy 5-year basic sole source orderiing agreement (BOA). This BOA supports the continued development of state-of-the-art techniques and target generation capabilities in conjunction with the advanced Digital RF Memory (DRFM) architecture developed under a prior Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II.5 award issued to KOR Electronics. The BOA provides for research and development, production, engineering services and ongoing support and is valued at up to $58M. "This agreement is a perfect example of how the SBIR program can benefit our country's defense and small business," said Kevin Carnino, KOR Electronics President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Houston City Council today unanimously reappointed businessman Kase Lawal to the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority for a seventh term. He was initially appointed in June 1999. U.S. Navy Contract for DH Barges

Metal Trades, Inc. was contracted by Maybank Industries. LLC to build two new types of double hull barges for the U.S. Navy. Three “YON” fuel barges and one Ship Waste Offloading Barge (SWOB) will be built, each type with identical 6,900 barrel capacity cargo and double hull configurations. The ABS classed barges are being designed by Bristol Harbor Group of Bristol, RI to be 180 feet long and 44 feet wide. BIW Awarded $46m Navy Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Bath Iron Works, a subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) , a $45.8m contract option to provide services associated with the detail design and construction of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer. The contract being modified was initially awarded in February 2008. Under this award, Bath Iron Works (BIW) will continue to provide services for the DDG 1000 program, including configuration management and maintenance of class design products; program management; configuration and data management; system and ship integration services; production engineering services; and ship system segment management. In February 2008, the Navy awarded BIW the contract to build the first Zumwalt-class destroyer (DDG 1000), which is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy in 2013.
