4 Chaplains Foundation Recognizes Helix CEO

On Thursday, March 19, 2015, Arthur H. Thomas, Sr., president and CEO of Helix Alliance, Inc., received the Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Award. The award was presented by retired Capt. Louis Cavaliere, U.S. Navy, chairman of the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation, and George DuBois, chapel trustee, and mentor to the shipping community. The presentation was made at a joint meeting of the Propeller Club of Jacksonville and the Navy League. Cavaliere cited Thomas’ participation in numerous charitable organizations, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and American Diabetes Foundation, through his position as chief operating officer at Solutions Through Advanced Research, Inc. (STAR), a Jacksonville company active in pharmaceutical research and clinical trials.

W&O’s Emerson Elected Propeller Club VP

Many Leadership Changes at W&O

W&O, a global supplier to the marine and marine offshore markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation and engineered solutions, announced several changes to leadership at its Gulf Coast branches, as well as at its offices in Charleston, Norfolk and Fort Lauderdale. Vince Rodomista, a graduate of Kings Point with a degree in Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation, joins W&O as General Manager of the Houston branch. He spent the first seven years of his professional career as an engineer and deck officer onboard a variety of vessels.

Longtime W&O-employee Tammy Emerson, Senior Outside Sales Representative, for the leading marine equipment supplier, has been recognized as the Propeller Club of Jacksonville’s 2011-2012 Maritime Member of the Year. Emerson received this distinction as a result of her commitment to the club and its mission to promote the maritime industry. "Tammy has been a constant source of energy and was instrumental in the execution of multiple events that brought in new sources of support for our group,”" said Melissa Wilson, President of the Propeller Club of Jacksonville.

Porter Recognized with Impact Award

The University of North Florida (UNF) Transportation & Logistics (T&L) Flagship Program recognized Tami Porter, Director, East Coast & Gulf Terminal Operations of Horizon Lines, LLC, as the recipient of the Impact Award for Community Partner. Ms. Porter was presented the honor at an awards ceremony on May 1 in Jacksonville, FL. Porter was recognized for her contributions to the UNF T&L Flagship Program, including her work evaluating industry case competitions and participating in panel discussions for students. She also arranged port and vessel tours at Jaxport and provided guidance and expertise for the 130 students involved in the program, according to Lynn Brown, Associate Director of UNF's T&L Flagship Program.
