Kongsberg Rolls Out CPX Propeller Lineup

Kongsberg Maritime (KM) announced it is dividing its propeller systems into three distinct categories, C-Line, P-Line, and X-Line.The ‘C’ in C-Line stands for ‘Configured’, and indicates that these propellers are configured within a pre-defined technical spectrum to suit customers whose priorities are short lead times and a strong performance-to-cost ratio, the manufacturer said. Numerous options are available within the C-Line propeller solution to fine-tune the offering further, presented in a lucid and straightforward manner which simplifies the decision process for customers.

Stadt Naval was invited and approved as a partner in the European Naval Industry Consortium led by Fincantieri, Naval Group and Navantia (coordinated by NAVIRIS). Hempel Launches New Hull Performance System

Coatings manufacturer Hempel has rolled out its new Systems for Hull and Propeller Efficiency (SHAPE), which combines elements of hull and propeller efficiency optimization to deliver advice and solutions for ship operators. SHAPE is designed to maximize the quality of performance analysis and to offer expert advice for maximizing hull efficiency and return on investment. Fouling and mechanical damages on the hull can increase the engine power a vessel needs by up to 20 percent.

New Fixed Pitch Propeller Design from Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä introduced the FPP Opti Design, a new fixed pitch propeller (FPP) design concept. According to Wärtsilä, the new design offers fuel savings of up to 4 percent and highly reliable full scale performance predictions. The concept has been developed utilizing the latest computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology. The Wärtsilä FPP Opti Design has been developed at the company’s Technology and Service Centre in the Netherlands, and is the result of highly experienced design engineers having access to the very latest and most sophisticated software and analysis tools. CFD calculations analyze not only the propeller performance but most importantly also, the interaction between the propeller and hull.
