Bruntons to Debut CPP System at METS

A new controllable pitch propeller (CPP) system from Bruntons Propellers Ltd. will make its public debut at this year’s METS exhibition in Amsterdam, November 15-17. Bruntons said it has spent several years developing a CPP propeller and its associated equipment which will solve several issues that have affected CPPs since they were first introduced. In addition to manual control, the Bruntons CPP will be available with a fully automatic control system which will enable the vessel operator to switch between a selection of options varying between maximum power and maximum fuel efficiency.

Wärtsilä Acquires Propeller Repair Business in the U.K.

Wärtsilä has acquired the UK-based propeller repair company McCall Propellers Ltd. The company's net sales are $12.7m with 33 employees. McCall Propellers is the largest marine propulsion support services company based in the U.K. specializing in emergency repair of propeller equipment. The acquired company has purpose-built repair facilities next to Glasgow Airport, and work is carried out either in the workshop or on site anywhere in the world.

A&P Group & McCall Bros. Form Alliance

McCall Bros. Propellers Ltd., and A&P Group agreed to form a non-exclusive marketing alliance to promote their respective capabilities and resources. Commenting on the alliance, Hugh McCall, chairman and managing director of McCall Bros. Propellers said "We welcome the alliance which will enable us to enhance our service to our customers." Clive Towl, Group Business Development Director of A&P Group also commented "This alliance is further evidence of our desire to forge close ties with both our customers and technically competent suppliers."

Mercury Marine Acquires Teignbridge Propellers

Mercury Marine announced today that it has acquired Teignbridge Propellers Ltd., headquartered in Newton Abbot, United Kingdom. Teignbridge Propellers produces bronze and Nibral (nickel, bronze, aluminum) propellers for yachts, patrol boats and commercial vessels. In addition to its line of standard and custom propellers, Teignbridge also produces a complete underwater package of stern gear for inboard-powered vessels, which includes rudders, shafts, struts, seals, logs and bearings.
