Kalmar Signs Contract with PSA Corporation

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract for the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment from PSA Corporation Ltd for the next 3-year term. The contract supports the overall maintenance effort of a fleet of up to 700 prime movers and trailer sets at Pasir Panjang Terminal. The contract has been booked into Cargotec's 2017 fourth quarter order intake. Peter McLean, Senior Vice-President of Kalmar Asia-Pacific, said: "We have been working with PSA on the maintenance of their equipment for more than 11 years. This contract is a testament of the work we have delivered to PSA during the past years. Peter added: "As one of the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for mobile equipment, we are happy that PSA has awarded us this tender.

Marine Tech Summit Set for Singapore

Challenges for the next decade in port and maritime research and development (R&D) and technology will be the focus of the 2nd International Conference on Port and Maritime R&D and Technology (ICPMRDT), to be held from 10-12 September 2003 at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore. Five main sessions, which would be based on the theme "Port and Maritime R&D and Technology", will be featured at the 3-day conference. They are Port Development, Management and Operations; Coastal/Hydraulics Engineering; Marine Environment; Innovative Ship Designs and Operations; and Navigation and Maritime Training. These are key areas that offer great commercial potential for the maritime R&D and technology sector.

Security Council Formed With Assistance From Savi Technology

Every day, about 17,000 cargo containers enter U.S. ports, yet only one or two percent of them is routinely inspected. Since Sept. 11, government officials and global supply chain experts have been focusing on vulnerabilities and potential solutions to help ensure that weapons of mass destruction are not concealed in international cargo shipments. The formation of a new group of prominent supply chain thought leaders experienced in both the private and public sectors is being announced at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America's annual conference. Keppel Offshore & Marine Secures Contracts

Keppel Corporation Limited, through its offshore and marine units in Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), have clinched contracts worth a total of S$45 million. A specialised shipbuilder, Keppel Singmarine, has won two contracts to build and deliver two 45-tonne bollard pull harbour tugs to PSA Corporation Ltd and a 5500 BHP AHTS vessel to Hadi H. Al-Hamman of Saudi Arabia. The latter contract is the fourth vessel to be contracted by this owner since the first was delivered in early 2002. Meanwhile, Keppel Shipyard has also won a major refit job for the replenishment tanker RFA Bayleaf from UKā€™s Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service. This follows the successful extended survey and repair of the landing ship RFA Sir Tristram in May this year.
