Boskalis Bags Dredging Contracts in Indonesia

Dutch dredging and heavylift company Royal Boskalis Westminster has been awarded two dredging contracts in Indonesia.On the island of Sulawesi, Boskalis will expand the Makassar New Port container terminal and on the island of Java it will prepare land for a new petrochemical complex. Both projects will be executed in the second half of 2019 and carry a combined value of approximately EUR 75 million.The first project, awarded by construction company PT PP, entails the expansion of a new terminal for the Makassar New Port of port operator PT Pelindo IV by 45 hectares. NAUTIS FMB Simulator for AKMI Cirebon

The Akademi Maritim (AKMI) Suaka Bahari Cirebon has selected VSTEP for the supply of one DNV Class A FMB Simulator to train its students in accordance with the latest IMO requirements and model courses. On August 22, 2016, VSTEP and its local distributor PT Megatech Mandiri Setia have been awarded the contract from AKMI Suaka Bahari Cirebon to deliver a NAUTIS DNV Class A FMB simulator with 240° horizontal field of view and a NAUTIS Instructor Station. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from PT Pelindo 2, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and the Indonesian Navy. MOL Launches Coastal LNG Transport in Indonesia

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today teamed up with a local partner in Indonesia, PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL; President Director: Denny Hermanto) to launch joint operation of the LNG carrier Triputra, which conducted the project’s first discharging operation at the Port of Benoa on Bali Island. This is the second coastal shuttle transport project following one serving for West Java(*), for which MOL securedan order in 2011. In that project, a vessel shuttle-transports LNG to the Port of Benoa, and discharges it to afloating storage unit (FSU) moored there. PEL, the charterer, is working to establish a gas value chain with the new method—transferring LNG discharged to FSU to the floating regasification unit (FRU) moored at the pier.

Indonesia to Open Mini LNG Terminal in March

Indonesia's first mini liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, considered an ideal concept for a gas terminal an archipelago, is set to start operations in March, supplying 40 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to Bali’s Pesanggaran power plant. PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL) is aiming to see operations at its Benoa liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal kick off by March, delivering LNG from Bontang in East Kalimantan to Pesanggaran power plant in Denpasar, Bali. PEL, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator Pelindo Indonesia III, has signed a contract with Jaya Samudra Karunia Group (JSK Group) to operate the Benoa LNG terminal, consisting of a floating regasification unit (FRU) and a floating storage unit (FSU).

Indonesia’s Pelindo I Aims High

Indonesian state-run port operator Pelindo I plans to modernize and expand five of its ports this year. It has invested $2.7bn to develop ports in support of President Joko Widodo's maritime highway construction program. The five ports scheduled for this year included Malahayati port, Belawan port, Kuala Tanjung, Dumai port and Batam port. The port operator Pelindo I said that with investments of US$1.2 billion, North Sumatra’s Kuala Tanjung Port will become one of the world’s largest ports. It could reach 30th position in the Best Port List, stated Pelindo I president director Bambang Eka Cahyana. It will spend $400 million this year to finance the first phase of construction.

AKR Corporindo to Spend 2.3 trln rph on Industrial, Port Project

PT AKR Corporindo, a distributor of basic chemicals and petroleum products, plans to spend 2.3 trillion rupiah ($198.84 million) on investment in the second half of this year, to finance its Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate project, said Director Suresh Vembu. The firm is working in co-operation with state port firm PT Pelindo on the project situated on a 1,700-hectare site in Gresik, East Java, and has secured loan commitments from local banks for the project, Vembu said.
