MOL Puts FSRU for Indonesia's Jawa 1 LNG Power Plant Into Operation

MOL Signs Pact for Asia’s 1st Gas-to-Power Project FSRU

Indonesia to Open Mini LNG Terminal in March

Indonesia's first mini liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, considered an ideal concept for a gas terminal an archipelago, is set to start operations in March, supplying 40 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to Bali’s Pesanggaran power plant. PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL) is aiming to see operations at its Benoa liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal kick off by March, delivering LNG from Bontang in East Kalimantan to Pesanggaran power plant in Denpasar, Bali. PEL, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator Pelindo Indonesia III, has signed a contract with Jaya Samudra Karunia Group (JSK Group) to operate the Benoa LNG terminal, consisting of a floating regasification unit (FRU) and a floating storage unit (FSU).

ABS to Class the World's First CNG Ship

ABS announced it has been chosen to class the world's first compressed natural gas (CNG) carrier ordered by Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state-owned power company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN). The award for the precedent-setting ship, to be built at Qingdao Wuchuan Heavy Industry's shipyard in northern China, is the latest example of ABS' leadership in the gas ship sector, where the largest share of LNG ships is presently being built to its classification standards.

RINA Performs Design Appraisal for CNG Power Plant

International classification and verification company RINA Services has performed the design approval for the world's largest Compressed Natural Gas storage plant in Grati, Indonesia. The CNG will feed the local 300 MW power plant. The plant, operated by Indonesia’s PT PLN (Persero), burns up to 15 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas from the CNG storage, driving three gas turbines. Adding a CNG plant to the existing power station tackles the issue of peak load demand. The CNG storage takes in pipeline gas when the plant is not at full capacity.

BP to Supply LNG to Indonesia Long Term

On behalf of the Tangguh PSC partners, BP yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide long-term LNG supply to Indonesia’s state electricity company, PT. PLN (Persero), for domestic Indonesian needs and also to support PLN in providing electricity for Teluk Bintuni Regency, Papua Barat province. The MoU was signed as part of an expansion plan for the Tangguh LNG project in Papua Barat province, Indonesia. The MoU outlines BP’s commitment to work in partnership with PLN to reach an agreement for the supply of LNG for domestic power plant usage, as well as the supply of electricity to meet the demand of local communities and small and medium-sized enterprises in Teluk Bintuni Regency and surrounding areas.
