Transocean Appoints Jeremy D. Thigpen President & CEO

The CFO of Houston-based National Oilwell Varco Inc. (NOV) is stepping down to become CEO of Transocean Ltd. (RIG), one of NOV’s largest customers. Effective April 22, Jeremy Thigpen will become CEO of Switzerland-based Transocean, which has its main U.S. office in Houston. Thigpen succeeds Ian Strachan, who had been serving as interim CEO since Steven Newman stepped down in February. Strachan, who is also the company's Chairman of the Board of Directors, will retire from the Board at the end of his term at the 2015 Annual General Meeting following approximately 16 years of service. Prior to joining Transocean, Thigpen spent his career in various roles at  NOV and has served since 2012 as NOV's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Caterpillar To Launch New CAT® CG137-8 Generator Set

Caterpillar Oil & Gas will unveil the new Cat CG137-8 natural gas generator set  at the Bismarck Civic Center in Bismarck, North Dakota during the 2014 Williston Basin Petroleum Conference  now in progress from May 20 – 22nd. The new Cat CG137-8 generator set provides 282 ekW (352 kVA), 60 Hz @ 1800 rpm of rated power, offering customers an additional power node to complement existing Cat power solutions in land production applications. The CG137-8 generator set will now be available to order from the global Cat dealer network. “The CG137-8 generator  set power node is a great addition to the proven Cat G3306B (135 ekW) and CG137-12 (400 ekW) oilfield generator sets, Russ Goss, Caterpillar Oil & Gas  new product introduction project manager said.

Wärtsilä Pumps Chosen for North Sea FSU

Wärtsilä said it signed a contract in late 2013 for a range of pumping solutions for a new Floating Storage Unit (FSU) which will operate on the Mariner oilfield in the North Sea. Wärtsilä's contract was signed with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) which will build the FSU in South Korea on behalf of Statoil, the Norway based international energy company. A model of the hi-tech WSD 1000 MPSV, a multi-purpose offshore supply vessel with a unique fuel-efficient design, proven hull lines & an integrated equipment package from Wärtsilä, will be on display at the upcoming Expo. Walk-to-work-vessels are so designated by the manufacturers on account of being equipped with a gyro-stabilized, telescopic gangway, through which crew and functions are transferred to the well-head-platforms for well stimulation and Intervention work. Wagenborg chose PG for IMR/Cold-Start-Solutions for their new (W2W) IMRV's having secured a long-term-charter from Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. (Shell). Wärtsilä to Supply Pumping Equipment for Statoil

Wärtsilä's series of pumping systems for Statoil. Wärtsilä's ability to supply a complete portfolio of solutions for the marine and offshore industry is again demonstrated with this latest order for a series of pumping systems for Statoil. Wärtsilä has won an order to supply a series of pumps to be installed on a new floating storage unit (FSU). The FSU is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea for Statoil, the Norway based international energy company. When completed, it will be located on the Heidrun oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea. Delivery of the Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for February 2014. The order for the deep well cargo offloading pumping system and the fire water pump package includes 38 deep well cargo pumps produced by Wärtsilä…
