Barcelona-Marseille Hydrogen Subsea Pipeline to Cost Around 2B Euros

Boskalis Consortium to Develop French Port

A consortium led by Boskalis Nederland and Bouygues Travaux Publics has won a contract from the Occitanie/Pyrenees-Mediterranee region of France for the expansion of Port-La-Nouvelle in the south west of the country that will lead to offshore wind development.The expansion will enable the port to accommodate the construction and assembly of pilot floating wind farms planned off the coast of Occitanie, Bouygues Travaux Publics said.The total value of the project amounts to EUR 199 million, for an overall project cost of EUR 237 million, forming part of the Region’s programs for construction and coastline development.When completed, the port of Port-La-Nouvelle will provide a draft of 14.5 meters…

Portugal PM Wants Sines Port to Expand, Handle More U.S. LNG

China's Shandong Tanks Are Full, Tankers Await Discharge

Most crude tankers float for less than a week; half of fuel oil tankers are carrying bitumen mixture. More than 20 tankers carrying crude and fuel oil are anchored off the ports of China's eastern Shandong province, as onshore storage tanks are full, according to trade sources and shipping data on Thomson Reuters Eikon. Frenzied buying by independent refiners, most of whom are located in Shandong, and trading companies seeking to re-sell crude to these refineries have filled up tanks, they said. "Oil inventories at storage tanks are very high," a China-based trader said. Most of the tankers that are carrying crude have been floating off Shandong for less than a week although tanker Seaways Portland, which has Russian ESPO crude onboard, has been in the area for two months, the data showed.

FUGRO Wins BHP Pyrenees Contract

Fugro has been awarded a contract by BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty Ltd for the Pyrenees Phase 3 Installation Project. The Pyrenees development is located offshore Western Australia, in approximately 200 metres water depth, 45 kilometres northwest of Exmouth, and comprises six separate fields: Stickle, Crosby, Tanglehead, Moondyne, Wild Bull and Ravensworth. The project includes the tie back of the Stickle 9 well to the existing Tanglehead manifold. Fugro’s scope of work includes suspension of existing infrastructure, and installation and pre-commissioning of the new flexibles and flying leads.

Clipper Establishes New Supramax Pool

Clipper has established the Clipper Sapphire Pool, a new commercial pool for modern Supramax grab fitted bulk carriers between 52,000 and 58,000 deadweight. BHP Billiton and Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) today signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation (MOU) to exchange technical knowledge, information, experiences and practices in activities related to the oil and gas industry. Genco Takes Delivery of Two Supramax Vessels

Genco Shipping & Trading Limited (NYSE:GNK) announced that it has taken delivery of the Genco Pyrenees, a 2010-built Supramax vessel, and the Genco Normandy, a 2007-built Supramax vessel. The Genco Pyrenees and the Genco Normandy are the third and fourth vessels, respectively, to be delivered to the Company under Genco's agreement previously announced on June 25, 2010 to acquire 13 Supramax vessels from Setaf SAS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bourbon SA. The Genco Pyrenees is expected to be delivered to its charterer, Setaf Saget SAS, on or about August 12, 2010 to commence a time charter for 11 to 13.5 months at a rate of $19,000 per day, less a 3.75% third-party brokerage commission.

French, Spanish Funds for Motorways of the Sea

The European Commission gave its green light for the public financing from France and Spain to the Fres Mos project. It will link the French port of Nantes-Saint Nazaire with the Spanish port of Gijon, and will be operated by GLD Atlantique. This Motorways of the Sea project will also receive an EU grant in the framework of the 2009 Marco Polo II call for proposals, in which the Commission selected twenty-two projects with overall funding of $92.3m. With these projects, the Commission expects to shift a total of 16.8 billion tonne/kilometres of freight away from the roads. The EU Marco Polo II program selects each year a range of projects that aim to shift freight from the road onto more environmentally-friendly transport modes, such as railway, inland waterway and maritime transport.

Transport Committee backs ‘Motorways of the Sea’

The Transport Committee voted on the draft report tabled by Philip Bradbourn (EPP-ED, UK) on Community guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network. Following the report last year on these guidelines by the High Level Group under Karel Van Miert, the Commission submitted to Parliament an amended proposal, adding nine new projects to those already adopted by the EP at its initial first reading. MEPs warmly backed the introduction of "motorways of the sea" to launch new regular transnational cargo shipping lines. These routes are intended to improve links with islands and enable goods traffic to avoid natural barriers such as the Alps and the Pyrenees.

Cameron Receives Subsea Tree Contract

Cameron won a $110m contract to provide 13 subsea trees, manifolds and related equipment for BHP Billiton's Pyrenees project offshore Northwest Australia. Cameron will provide engineering and project management services, 13 wellhead and subsea tree systems, control systems, several subsea manifolds and the associated flowline connection system, chokes and related equipment. Initial equipment delivery and installation is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2008, with additional deliveries of trees, manifolds and associated equipment to continue through 2010. In addition, further expansion of the Pyrenees field beyond the initial 13 wells is expected in the future.
