Houthis Say They Will Target US Ships

Yemen's Houthi movement will expand its targets in the Red Sea region to include U.S. ships, an official from the Iran-allied group said on Monday, as it vowed to keep up attacks after U.S. and British strikes on its sites in Yemen.Attacks by the Houthis on ships in area since November have impacted companies and alarmed major powers in an escalation of Israel's more than three-month war with Hamas militants in Gaza. QatarEnergy Stops Red Sea LNG Shipping Due to Attacks

QatarEnergy, the world's second largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, has stopped sending tankers via the Red Sea although production continues, a senior source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday.Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group has since November been attacking vessels in the Red Sea, part of a route that accounts for about 12% of the world's shipping traffic, in what they say is an effort to support Palestinians in the war with Israel.At least four tankers used to carry Qatari LNG were held up over the weekend after U.S.

Hyundai Glovis Signs $100m Qatari Shipping Deal

Hyundai Glovis Co., South Korean shipping firm, clinched a $100 million shipping service contract with a building materials firm in Qatar, reports Yonhap news agency. According to the agreement signed with state-run Qatar Primary Materials Co., Hyundai will transport 12 million tons of aggregates to the Arab nation from neighboring United Arab Emirates for the next two years. The aggregates imported by the Qatari government are to be used in the construction of facilities for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the country. Kim Kyung-bae, chairman of Hyundai Glovis, the logistics unit under auto conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group, said that the a test deal will be a chance for his company to promote its competitiveness in the Middle Eastern logistics industry.

CSD Al Jarraf Launched at ASL Shipyard, Singapore

Al Jarraf, meaning “dredging vessel” in Arabic, was launched on Wednesday October 27 at the ASL Shipyard in Singapore. VOSTA LMG is responsible for the design, supplied the components and developed the dredging technology together with MEDCO and DEME. VOSTA LMG built the main dredging components in Asia, 100% to European standards. Owner of the vessel is Middle East Dredging Company (MEDCO), a partnership between DEME, United Development Company (UDC), and the Qatari government. Two basic characteristics of the new CSD Al Jarraf qualify specifically for assignments in the Gulf region.
