Modern Power for Next-gen Bulk Carriers
WE Tech Solutions (WE Tech), an energy efficiency solutions provider in the marine industry, has received an order to deliver its direct-drive permanent magnet shaft generator solution to two new 25,600 dwt dual-fueled handysize bulk carriers, with an option for two more. The Switch, a technology specialist of megawatt-class permanent magnet (PM) machines for advanced marine drive trains, will deliver the PM shaft generators to be used in the solutions provided by WE Tech. The vessels are owned by the Finnish ship owner ESL Shipping Ltd.âŚ
MacGregor Equipment for ESL's Eco-bulker Duo
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has confirmed an important order to deliver hatch covers, cranes, deck machinery and steering gear to two new 25,600 dwt dual-fuelled handysize bulk carriers for Finnish owner ESL Shipping. The ice-class vessels are the first to be built to new classification society rules introduced January 2016. The ships have been designed to set new standards in efficiency and environmental performance and introduce liquefied natural gas-powered bulkers to the market. For each vessel MacGregor will deliver three K3030-4 mechanical grab cargo cranes with a safe working load of 30 tonnes at 30m outreach, design and key components package for multi folding-type hatch covers (6+6), electrically-driven Hatlapa deck machinery and Porsgrunn steering gear.
ESL Orders LNG-fueled Bulker following Transport Deal with SSAB
ESL Shipping Ltd and the steel company SSAB have signed a long-term frame agreement covering SSABâs inbound raw material sea transports within the Baltic Sea and from the North Sea. The purpose of the agreement is to enable mutual, long-term gains in efficiency and to reduce overall logistics costs, while simultaneously making raw material logistics as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. At present, the aggregated sea transport volume covered by the agreement is estimated to be 6â7 million tons annually. Resulting from the agreement, ESL Shipping will order new, extremely energy-efficient LNG-fueled ships. These new, ice-class 1A ships will be the first LNG-fueled large bulk carriers in the world, representing the latest in technology and innovation.
Deltamarin to Designs First LNG Handysize Bulk Carriers
Deltamarin Ltd proudly announces that it has signed a contract to design the worldâs first LNG handysize bulk carriers, which will point the way towards greener shipping of commodities. The two B.Delta26LNG vessels will be constructed for the Finnish shipowner ESL Shipping Ltd by the Chinese Qingshan Shipyard of Sinotrans & CSC SBICO. Deltamarinâs contract with the Qingshan Shipyard covers basic and detail design, procurement handling and site assistance for the two vessels based on Deltamarinâs B.Delta26LNG design. SENER holds a FORAN seminar in Wuhan, China
The âFORAN new modules, new functions and FEM-Link (Hypermesh) Seminarâ was held on April 23rd in Wuhan. SENER is playing a big role in China, where it has been promoting the FORAN System for many years.Through the seminar, important new enhancements in its shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, SENER (Shanghai) hopes to bolster confidence of existing customers and arouse more interest among the potential customers for FORAN system. Xinlin Zhou presented the FORAN FGA/FBASIC modules, functions and hull capabilities of new release V70R3.0. The paper introduced general arrangement drawings using FGA modules and naval architecture calculations using FBASIC module.
Deltamarin Announces First B.Delta43 Delivery, New Order
The first B.Delta43 vessel, M/V Venture Goal, was delivered to the Hamburg Bulk Carriers GmbH (HBC) in January 2015. The Deltamarin design has also attracted yet another customer, as Phoenix Shipping & Trading ordered four B.Delta43 handysize bulk carriers at Qingshan Shipyard. The first B.Delta43 vessel for the German shipowner HBC was successfully sea-trialed and delivered on January 24, 2015 at a ceremony at Qingshan Shipyard of Sinotrans & CSC SBICO. The delegation and top management of HBC who attended the ceremony expressed their satisfaction with the shipâs performance, as observed during the conducted trials, where B.Delta43 confirmed predictions on speed and deadweight to a very high accuracy.
Latest Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders
Clarkson Hellas notes that Oldendorff Carriers have declared their options for six 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Qingshan Shipyard and one 94,000 DWT self-unloader at Jiangsu New YZJ. Pricing was not disclosed, but delivery is reported to be from 4Q in 2016 for the Ultramax and due in 2Q 2015 for the self-unloader. From Japan, Namura have signed two 81,700 DWT Kamsarmax with the Taiwanese owner Wisdom Marine for delivery in 2016. In the larger sizes, Sincere Navigation have declared their option for one 250,000 DWT ore carrier, taking the series to two vessels. The vessel will be delivered in 2016.
Latest Global Deep-Sea Shipbuilding Orders
Sinotrans Shipping have signed contracts for two firm 78,000 DWT Panamax at Jiangnan Shipyard. This order is understood by Clarkson Hellas to have been under discussion for some time, and commits two remaining slots within end 2015 basis the yardâs existing Panamax design. It has also been reported that the same owner has ordered four firm 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Chengxi Shipyard for delivery within 2016, with the deal having been concluded just prior to the Lunar New Year. Global Dry Bulk Carrier Newbuilding Orders on the Rise
Starting with the large sizes in dry, Oldendorff Carriers are reported to have declared the sixth in a series of 207,000 DWT Newcastlemax at HHI, with delivery in the second quarter of 2015. Clarkson Hellas report that at Hanjin Subic, STX Pan Ocean have contracted two firm 150,000 DWT Capesize, planned for delivery in the second half of 2016 and for charter to KEPCO. One order to report in the Kamsarmax sector, with Klaveness declaring the third and fourth in a series of 82,000 DWT bulk carriers at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang.
China Shipyard Gets Significant HBC Bulkship Orders
Hamburg Bulk Carriers (HBC) has ordered three 43,500 dwt bulk carriers plus options for 9 more from Qingshan Shipyard. The buyerss add that two and a half years of work was invested into this project to build up to 12 bulk carriers of about 43.500 dwt of which the first delivery is expected in the last quarter of 2014. The design is a modification of a standard design developed by Deltamarin of Finland. Model tests confirmed the high expectations of extremely low consumption of fuel oil which is less than 20 mt fuel oil daily, and added to this advantage the ships will also have a very shallow draft. China Shipyards Get B.Delta Design Bulker Orders
The latest batch of orders for Deltamarin's B.Delta design bulk carriers comes from international shipowners, all to be built in China. The B.Delta43 order by the German ship owner HBC Hamburg Bulk Carriers at CSC Qingshan Shipyard and the B.Delta37 order by the Tunisian ship owner Transbulk at Yangfan shipyard are the latest additions to Deltamarinâs B.Delta series. On top of these new orders, China Navigation Company (CNCo) has exercised an option for another four B.Delta37 vessels at Chengxi Shipyard, dâAmico an option for one more B.Delta37 at Yangfan Shipyard, and M.T.
GL Contracts 60th Ship with Chinese Yard
A 19,800 dwt stainless steel chemical tanker vessel is the 60th ship being built with Germanischer Lloyd class at Qingshan Shipyard. The 10th anniversary of close cooperation between Qingshan Shipyard and Germanischer Lloyd is being celebrated on August 3 with a ceremony attended by more than 100 guests. Participants include the President of Chang Jiang Shipping Group Liu Xihan, the Vice Governor of Hubei Province Li Chunming, the Vice Mayor of Wuhan City Yue Yong and other representatives of local government and authorities. 27 vessels have been delivered since 1996, 33 ships are under construction and on order. In total, more than 750,000 dwt have been constructed with GL class at Qingshan Shipyard. Qingshan Shipyard has 3,800 employees and is located at the Yangzi River in Wuhan.
