Freeport Ships First LNG Commissioning Cargo

Freeport LNG Reaches Milestone

Trafigura Strikes 3-year LNG Deal from U.S. Project

Commodity trader Trafigura on Tuesday said it agreed to buy 0.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually over three years from the Freeport LNG export plant in the United States.   Deliveries from Freeport LNG Marketing will begin in 2020 from its facility on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas, Trafigura said.   The deal builds on Trafigura's 15-year, 1 million tonne per annum agreement with Cheniere Energy for supply from its Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana, which was announced in January.   Reporting by Oleg Vukmanovic

Freeport LNG Delays Start of Texas Export Terminal

Aqualis Lands Audit Work for LNG Carrier

Offshore marine and engineering consultancy Aqualis Offshore, part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, said it has been contracted by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ltd to provide an engineering study of a new-build liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier the yard is constructing for Teekay LNG. Teekay, BP Enter Deal for Newbuild LNG Tankers

Teekay LNG Partners L.P. announced that it has entered into a 13-year time-charter contract with BP Shipping Limited (BP) for one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuilding, plus an option exercisable by BP by the end of the third quarter of 2015 for one additional LNG carrier under similar terms. JV Wins $2bln Freeport LNG Contract in US

A joint venture (JV) between CB&I, Chiyoda International and Zachry Industrial has won a contract worth over $2bn from FLNG Liquefaction 3 for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) train at Freeport LNG in Texas, US. Upon completion, the three-train facility will have a total export capacity of more than 13.9 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas. The deal requires the JV to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the third of the three-train natural gas liquefaction and export facility on Quintana Island, near Freeport. The contract's scope also includes a double-walled, full-containment 165,000 cubic metre LNG storage tank, which will be delivered by CB&I. Zachry built Freeport LNG’s original regasification terminal on Quintana Island.

US Gives Final Approvals to Freeport for LNG Exports

The U.S. Department of Energy gave two final approvals on Friday to Freeport LNG Development LP to export liquefied natural gas, or LNG, from its project in Texas to any country. The planned project in Quintana Island, Texas, would have the capacity to export up to 1.8 billion cubic feet a day of LNG once constructed. With domestic gas production booming, U.S. companies have lined up to ship the nation's abundant shale gas to energy- hungry consumers in Europe and Asia. The companies need special approval to export LNG to countries with which Washington does not have free trade agreements.

FERC Drafts EIS on Freeport LNG Project

The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has prepared a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Phase II Modification Project and the Liquefaction Project. The Projects are proposed by Freeport LNG and are located in Brazoria County near the city of Freeport, Texas. The proposed Phase II Modification Project includes: modification to the previously authorized liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel berthing dock, LNG transfer pipelines, LNG unloading arms, and the access road system at Freeport LNG’s existing Quintana Island terminal.

Freeport Facility to be Authorized to Export More U.S. LNG

The Energy Department has conditionally authorized Freeport LNG Expansion, L.P. and FLNG Liquefaction, LLC (Freeport) to export additional volumes of domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to countries that do not have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States from the Freeport LNG Terminal in Quintana Island, Texas. Freeport previously received approval to export 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day (Bcf/d) of LNG from this facility to non-FTA countries on May 17, 2013.

FMC Commissioner Gives Keynote on Panama Canal

Commissioner William P. Doyle of the Federal Maritime Commission, has given the keynote address at the Eno Center for Transportation Forum on the Panama Canal entitled: Lessons Learned and Implications for World Commerce. His comments on the future of the canal's LNG trade are also extracted below. Commissioner Doyle noted that the Obama Administration, members of Congress and state and local officials support the tremendous economic, business, job-supporting, energy and transportation related opportunities the expanded Canal will bring to the United States.

DOE Authorizes Third Proposed Facility to Export LNG

The Energy Department announced it has conditionally authorized Lake Charles Exports, LLC (Lake Charles) to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to countries that do not have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States from the Lake Charles Terminal in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Lake Charles previously received approval to export LNG from this facility to FTA countries on July 22, 2011. Subject to environmental review and final regulatory approval, the facility is conditionally authorized to export at a rate of up to 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day (Bcf/d) for a period of 20 years. Technip USA Announces Contract Award for the Freeport LNG Terminal

Freeport LNG Development, L.P. and Technip USA Corporation, a subsidiary of Technip have signed a contract for the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) leading to the finalization of the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for its LNG receiving terminal to be located on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas. The FEED is expected to be completed by the end of December with the EPC phase of the project beginning in the first quarter of 2004. FERC authorizes Freeport LNG project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an Order granting authorization for construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Quintana Island, near Freeport, Texas. The facility is to include, among other things, an LNG ship maneuvering area, a protected single-berth unloading dock, and a storm protection levee. Plans call for the facility to be in operation for the 2006-2007 winter heating season. Docket No. CP03-75-000 (HK Law).
