Antarctica expedition benefits from a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) winch supplied by MacArtney Underwater Technology. An icebreaking polar supply and research vessel is to map out underwater conditions in the icy waters in terms of subsurface and marine life. The winch system, which was acquired through Swedish SubSea Solutions on the part of University of Gothenburg, will be put to good use on board South African icebreaking polar supply and research vessel S. A. Agulhas II designed to carry out scientific research and supply to South African research stations in Antarctica.

Ocean Safety’s new commercial twin chamber lifejacket range, the K2 275N, will be making its SMM debut in September. At SMM the K2 will be offered in an enhanced professional package. The K2 already includes a powerful AQ40L light as standard and now has the optional addition of the Kannad R10 AIS Survivor Recovery System (SRS). The new K2 range offers a twin chamber lifejacket that is approved to SOLAS MED Ship’s Wheel and is manufactured under the accredited Lloyds Register ISO 9001 quality system. The K2 is designed to be compact and unobtrusive and is available with or without a sprayhood.

The UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has introduced the latest in its range of lifejackets, the Premier Kru Falcon. The UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has just completed a chilly training session to safety authorities in Iceland in conjunction with the company’s Iceland service agent Sónar EHF, to demonstrate vital life saving equipment manufactured by the company. Andy Bracewell, Export  Manager at Ocean Safety, led a team which demonstrated the capabilities of the Kannad SafeLink R10 AIS Survivor Recovery System (SRS) to service technicians at Sónar EHF, based in Reykjavík.
