Coast Guard Medevacs Sailor near Key West

The U.S. Coast Guard said it medevaced a 56-year-old man from his sailing vessel, the Anthem, approximately 12 miles east of Key West, Fla., last Tuesday.   Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders received a report at approximately 1 a.m from a 56-year-old man sailing from St. Petersburg to Key West suffering from shortness of breath and exhaustion.   The nearby Coast Guard Cutter Raymond Evans crew launched their smallboat crew who transported the patient to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Key West. He was then transferred to Lower Keys Medical Center.

US Coast Guard Repatriates 65 Cuban Migrants

Sixty-five Cuban migrants aboard the Coast Guard Cutters William Trump and Raymond Evans were repatriated to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba over the last five days. The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter William Trump repatriated seven Cuban migrants Tuesday. This repatriation is a result of two separate migrant interdictions at sea in the south Florida Straits. Fifty-eight Cuban migrants were repatriated on Saturday by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Raymond Evans. This repatriation was the result of four separate migrant interdictions at sea in the South Florida Straits in a span of a week. The William Trump, along with numerous other Coast Guard patrol boats and aircraft, aggressively patrol the Florida Straits to detect and deter illegal and unsafe maritime migration.

USCG Repatriates 15 Migrants

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Raymond Evans repatriated 15 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Thursday. This repatriation is a result of two separate migrant interdictions at sea. "Coast Guard missions and operations in the Southeast remain unchanged. The Coast Guard strongly discourages attempts to illegally enter the country by taking to the sea," said Capt. Mark Gordon, Coast Guard 7th District chief of response enforcement. The Raymond Evans along with numerous other Coast Guard patrol boats and aircraft aggressively patrol the Florida Straits to detect and deter illegal and unsafe maritime migration. Safety of life at sea is always the Coast Guard's top priority. The Coast Guard Cutter Raymond Evans, a 154-foot fast response cutter homeported in Key West, Florida.

Bollinger to Build 6 More FRCs for the USCG

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, Louisiana, announced the award of six additional USCG Sentinel Class Fast Response Cutters (FRCs). The U. S. Coast Guard (USCG) awarded a $255 million contract option to Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport, La., July 23, 2014 for the production of six more Sentinel-Class FRCs, bringing the total number of FRCs under contract with Bollinger to 30, with a current contract value of $1.4 billion. The FRCs acquired under this contract option are scheduled to be delivered in 2017 and will be homeported at various bases throughout the U.S.

Bollinger Delivers 10th FRC to the USCG

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has delivered the Raymond Evans, the 10th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The announcement was made by Bollinger President, Chris Bollinger: “We are extremely proud to announce the delivery of the Raymond Evans, the latest FRC built by Bollinger, to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, Fla. The Raymond Evans, as well as the previous nine FRC deliveries, were proudly delivered on time and on budget. The 154 foot patrol craft Raymond Evans is the tenth vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program.
