This year, Hapag-Lloyd will once again make investments to maintain and expand its container fleet. The liner shipping company has ordered a total of 7,700 refrigerated containers (Reefers) of the latest generation – including 7,000 x 40-foot and 700 x 20-foot units. In addition, 1,000 of the new containers are equipped with “Controlled Atmosphere” technology, which slows down the ripening process of various types of fruits and vegetables, thereby allowing them to be transported for longer periods of time while maintaining a consistent quality. Production will already begin in September. For the first time, 1,000 of the new 40-foot containers will be manufactured in a plant in San Antonio, Chile, a region in which they are in high demand.

Offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator Seacat Services has completed its latest investment in its fleet, launching two vessels with the capacity for 24 industrial personnel – the newly-accepted Seacat Enterprise, and the upgraded Seacat Courageous. These boats are among the first wave of offshore energy support vessels to be certified under the new HS-OSC (High Speed – Offshore Service Craft) code, which now allows vessels under 500 metric tons to carry up to 60 industrial personnel.

Amongst these is one of PPG’s most recent product innovations, the PPG SIGMAGLIDE 1290 fouling release coating. Its 100% silicone binder fouling release system utilizes a breakthrough dynamic surface regeneration technology to eliminate slime problems and dramatically increase fuel savings compared to existing fouling release products.

(VBR), a global original equipment manufacturers (OEM) of blowout preventer components and ram provider, has named Cameron McCreary as sales account manager, announced President Hines M. "Chip" Marshall, Jr. Based in San Antonio, TX, McCreary will be responsible for expanding sales and revenue in the west and south Texas regions. He will establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel within his accounts while cultivating existing company relationships. McCreary’s role also requires management of tickets and invoices within his area.

Variable Bore Rams, Inc. (VBR), one of the largest original equipment manufacturer (OEM) ram providers in the world, will celebrate the grand opening of their Broussard office with an open house from 2 -8 p.m. on Oct. 25. The open house will showcase the 26,654-square-foot shop and warehouse; 3,000-square-foot climate controlled elastomer storage room; and the 7,671-square-foot office where all administrative and operational duties will be performed. Scheduled in conjunction with Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Expo (LAGCOE), the open house will feature facility tours, live music, food and drinks.
