Drew Marine Completes Aqcuisition of Alexander Marine & Safety

Drew Marine has completed the acquisition of Alexander/Ryan Marine and Safety Inc., and it will join the organization under the name Alexander/Ryan Marine & Safety division of Drew Marine. With locations in the United States (Louisiana and Texas) and in the United Kingdom, the division brings 82 new employees to Drew Marine. Drew Marine's Acquisition of Chemring Marine Completed

Drew Marine has completed the acquisition of the Chemring Marine business, now named Drew Marine Signal and Safety (DMSS). DMSS brings 125 new employees to Drew Marine with locations in Bremerhaven, Germany, Hampshire, UK, Pamplona, Spain, and Melbourne, Australia. DMSS is a manufacturer and supplier of pyrotechnic marine distress signals business, under recognized brands such as Comet, Pains Wessex, Oroquieta and Aurora. DMSS offers a large selection of SOLAS compliant products sold through an unparalleled distribution network in 80 countries. It also sells signal and safety products to the non-SOLAS/leisure market. ABB Azipod Efficiency Improved Again

Continuous effort to improve Azipod energy efficiency. ABB, a power and automation technology group, has announced that recent modifications to its Azipod propulsion unit fr ame design have seen hydrodynamic efficiency improved by more than two percent. The modifications include a newly optimized Azipod fin shape and a new pod cap structure, called Xtail. The revised fin structure receives water flow from the propeller at a new, less acute angle, and its new curved design redirects the flow more efficiently.
