Furetank Orders Two More Vessels

Furetank adds another two Vinga vessels to the order line. Upon delivery, Furetank’s fleet will consist entirely of environmentally proven, top standard vessels with an average age of two years, the company said."We did our homework. Kongsberg to Design and Equip Sirius Rederi's New Chemical Tanker Pair

Kongsberg Maritime on Monday announced it has won a contract to supply design, engineering, and equipment for two MGO/biofuel and methanol-ready chemical tankers for Swedish tanker operator Sirius Rederi AB. The low emission 15,000dwt tanker vessels will feature a range of Kongsberg Maritime equipment and can operate on battery-powered hybrid propulsion. Options for further vessels are included.This latest contract builds on a current nine-ship program with fellow Swedish owner Terntank, with a similar design and equipment package.

Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö Sells M/S Birka Stockholm Ship for €38M

Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö, a Finnish shipping company providing passenger and cargo ferry services, has agreed to sell the M/S Birka Stockholm cruise ship to Rederi AB Gotland. The sale price is around 38 million euros.Delivery of the vessel to Rederi AB Gotland is expected to occur in April 2023.The ship sale will cause a write-down amounting to around 12 million euros in Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö's Annual Report for 2022, which will be published on April 12, 2023. "This write-down deviates from the Q4 quarterly report that was published on February 28, 2023," Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö explained.Built in 2004 by Aker Finnyards in Rauma, Finland, the Birka Stockholm is 177 meters long, 28 meters wide, and can accommodate 1800.

FureBear Acquires Tanker with Larsson Shipping

FureBear, a joint venture between Swedish shipping company Furetank and Canadian shipping company Algoma, together with U.K.-based Larsson Shipping, has taken over the ownership of Algoma’s product tanker Algonorth.The 2008-built, 6,958 dwt double hull product oil tanker has arrived from Canada to trade in Northern Europe under the new name Fure Skagen.Owned by FureBear and Larsson Shipping and flying the Faroe Island flag, Fure Skagen will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.Furetank and Algoma formed the FureBear joint venture in 2022…

Proman Stena Bulk Names Its First Methanol-fueld Tanker in Trinidad & Tobago

In a ceremony held in Trinidad and Tobago on November 23, 2022, Proman Stena Bulk Ltd formally named its first newbuild IMOIIMeMAX methanol-fueled 49,900 DWT vessel, Stena Pro Patria.Stena Pro Patria is the first of three methanol-fueled vessels delivered in 2022 to the joint venture between tanker company Stena Bulk and the methanol producer Proman, with a further three newbuilds due for  delivery between now and 2024.The naming ceremony was the first for a methanol-fueled newbuild in Trinidad and Tobago, and was attended by Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime  Minister, Dr.

Furetank to Sell Two Dual-fuel Tankers to Neste

Furetank Rederi AB said it has signed an agreement to sell two 17,999 dwt dual-fuel product tankers Fure Valö and Fure Ven to the Finnish company Neste, a producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel. The vessels will be delivered in October and December 2023, when the first of the seven new-buildings already ordered by Furetank and partners are scheduled to be delivered from the shipyard in Yangzhou."It is good news for us that we can continue to advance our environmental efforts and develop new vessels.

Chart Wins Order for Marine LNG Fueling Tanks

Chart Industries, the maker of equipment for the liquefied natural gas and industrial gas industries, has been awarded a contract by LGM Engineering to supply four LNG fuel tanks.The fuel tanks, supplied by Chart, will power two 22 dead weight tonne (dwt) chemical tankers with clean burning natural gas. The ships will be built in Wuhu Shipyard, China and owned by Rederi AB Donsõtank from Sweden.Each of the 300m³ capacity cryogenic tanks comprises double stainless steel shells with vacuum & perlite insulation.The tanks will be designed and manufactured at Chart’s Changzhou, China facility and classified by DNV GL in accordance with associated regulations.“We thank LGM Engineering for this order and are excited to be working with them on this project.

Ramelia Begins Maiden Voyage

GTA Names Sixth LNG-Fueled Tanker

Furetank Orders Dual Fuel Product Tanker

Sweden's Furetank Rederi AB has signed a contract for one 17,999 dwt dual fuel product tanker at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding.The agreement with the yard includes an option for one further vessel, said a press release from the provider of marine transportation services through product and chemical tankers.The new vessel will be identical with the series of six sister vessels built by Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding for Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Erik Thun AB during 2018‐2019.All vessels are designed with special focus on minimal impact on the environment and has dual fuel capability, run on LNG and has several features that reduce fuel and energy consumption resulting in extensively lower emissions of CO2…

Wuhu Shipyard Bags Donsötank Conract for Tanker Duo

Swedish family-owned shipowner Rederi AB Donsötank has contracted two oil products and chemical tankers at Chinese Wuhu Shipyard Co. Ltd.The vessels will be delivered in 2021, the Gothenburg-based shipping company said in a press release.The vessels are designed by FKAB, based on a well-known low-resistance hull design. Together we have a long relation in development of newbuildings, with focus on safe transports, working environment and to reduce the impact on the environment.The vessels are ice strengthened to ice class 1A, LNG driven, shore connection for port operations, prepared for 1000 kWh battery-pack and several other advantages for flexible and stable transports.

Gothia Tanker Alliance Delivers Fure Valö

Europe's leading network for smaller and intermediate size tankers Gothia Tanker Alliance announced the delivery of the fourth vessel LNG-fueled vessel  Fure Valö.The vessel was named on the 17th of November and delivered to owners Furetank on November 27, the company tweeted. Fure Valö has been delivered at the Chinese Avic Dingheng shipyard.Fure Valö is vessel number four in a the serie of six climate smart, high quality new buildings that will join the Gothia Tanker Alliance.It is a part of the six-vessel series ordered by the Gothia Tanker Alliance members Furetank, Älvtank and Erik Thun, Gothia Tanker Alliance said.Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV are building six intermediate size tankers at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd.

Skangas Inks LNG Bunker Deal with Gothia Tanker Alliance

Skangas entered into an agreement with parts of the Gothia Tanker Alliance to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.The new agreement comprises current as well as new vessels with LNG propulsion soon to come, said a press release from the supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Nordic markets.The main Swedish shipping companies that will get the advantage of the supply agreement with Skangas are Furetank Rederi AB, Erik Thun AB and Rederi AB Älvtank. These shipping companies have invested in total six new LNG fueled vessels and together with the existing Fure West they are all jointly operated by the Gothia Tanker Alliance.The Swedish Shipowners’ Association is actively contributing to reduce any negative environmental impact of the shipping industry.

Furetank Fleet Adds LNG-fuelled Fure Vinga

Swedish shipping company Furetank Rederi AB, a part of the Gothia Tanker Alliance, has taken delivery of its latest vessel, Fure Vinga, the first in a series of six 17.999 DWT product tankers with LNG operation. "We welcome Fure Vinga to our alliance! We wish the ship and her crew fair winds and good fortune!," said Gothia Tanker Alliance in a Twitter message. The vessel has been transferred to Furetank following successful sea trials and started its trip from the shipyard of Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding in China, sailing to Europe. Featuring a length of 149.9 meters and a beam of 22.8 meters, the newbuilding was delivered by China’s shipbuilder Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. The tanker will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.

Ship cooling technology has a new name. Eminating from Finland, Gadcooler is a new ship cooling tech that is designed to save energy. Targeting the ferry and cruise ship sectors to start, the company recently announced its first installation success onboard Eckerö Line's cruise ferry m/s Finlandia over a period of two years. To help savve fuel the system uses existing onboard excess waste heat sources to provide chilled cooling water for the vessel's air-conditioning needs, replacing the need to run onboard cooling compressors.

Bestobell Reports Headway in Chinese Market

Bestobell Marine has secured two new contracts with Chinese shipyards. The first contract will see the company supply cryogenic valves to the Guangzhou Shipyard International, China for use in a new ferry’s LNG fuel gas system. Furetank and Älvtank extend the order with two more of next generation Intermediate Product/Chemical Tankers with LNG propulsion. Furetank Rederi AB and Rederi AB Älvtank have added the previous order with two more newbuildings. Last year a contract signed by the constellation Furetank, Älvtank and Thun Tankers to let build four chemical/product tanker in the intermediate segment of the Chinese shipyard Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. Gothia Orders Four LNG-Powered Tankers

Swedish cargo transporter Gothia Tanker Alliance has ordered four newbuilding intermediate product/chemical tankers with LNG propulsion. The vessels will be built to a design, developed by FKAB and Furetank, with close to 50 % reduction of CO2 emissions. Partners of the alliance, Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV, have hired Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd. for the construction of the 16,300 dwt tankers.
