Preece Named Managing Director at CWind

Mark Preece has been appointed Managing Director of CWind, the Global Marine Group (GMG) offshore renewable business.   Preece, who has extensive experience in the offshore and maritime sectors, joined CWind on an interim basis late in 2017.    He has formerly served as Executive Vice Chairman at PDi Ltd, CEO of CEONA Offshore and CEO of Reef Subsea.

Reef Subsea Win Large Middle East, A-P, Contracts

Reef Subsea Dredging and Excavation (D&E) report they have secured a number of substantial contracts in the Middle-East and Asia Pacific as they continue to grow its global footprint. The Middle-East contracts will involve two teams from the company’s UK workforce managing subsea excavation work in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The work in the Al Khafji field in Saudi Arabia, on behalf of Technip and Khafji Joint Operations (KJO), is a shore approach cable excavation in shallow waters. Specialist personnel will also be deployed for the post-lay burial of the 165mm composite cable.

Ashtead Technology Appoints New Commercial Director

International subsea equipment solutions specialist Ashtead Technology has added to its management team with the appointment of Tim Sheehan as commercial director. The appointment, which is a new position, comes as part of the company’s strategy to expand its global service offering which includes rental equipment, calibration, repair and maintenance, offshore personnel and bespoke engineered solutions. Reef Subsea Headed by New CEO

Reef Subsea today announced that it will undergo a strategic group-wide restructure. Duncan Macpherson, who previously held the role of Managing Director of Reef Subsea Norway, has been promoted as the CEO of Reef Subseawith the responsibility of implementing the new strategy. Reef Subsea offers a powerful combination of integrated subsea services to the oil and gas and offshore renewables markets. Over the past six months, Reef Subsea has launched a project based operation in West Africa, with two vessels now operating in the region.

Reef Subsea Wins Offshore W. Africa Contracts

Reef Subsea has secured two contracts for offshore operations in the West Africa region with a combined value of more than US$15-M. The firm’s IMR and Construction division, based in Bergen, Norway, is working with two major oil and gas companies on the projects in The Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea. Reef Subsea Announce Management Changes

Mark Preece is to step down as CEO of the Reef Subsea Group by mutual agreement. The board has acknowledged and thanked Mr. Preece for his efforts in developing and positioning Reef Subsea as a strong subsea contractor in the oil and gas and offshore wind farm sectors. Duncan MacPherson, the current managing director of Reef Subsea Norway, will assume the interim role of CEO for the Reef Subsea Group. Prior to joining Reef Subsea, Mr. MacPherson was an executive VP of DOF Subsea and general manager in DOF Subsea Norway. Meanwhile, Mel Fitzgerald has been appointed board chairman. Mr. Fitzgerald has been involved in the oil industry since he joined Brown and Root in 1974 as a Project Engineer and has worked in a number of positions and locations.

Shipyards in NE England Buzzing with Activity

The month of January 2013 was again a very busy month for A&P Shipyards in the northeast of England. Longstone (Andrew Weir Shipping) - undocked early January after      an intensive 12 day programme overhauling the stern ramp, vent fans and      sea valves. The ship sailed away on time on 4th January. Pride of York (P&O) - docked on 22nd January where she underwent her annual refit. She sailed on      the 10th February. The Tyne saw a couple of demobilisation projects for Technip Offshore Wind Limited in January on UR101 and AMT Discoverer. Both projects involved removal of cable carousels and associated equipment. They both successfully completed on time. The same owners have now just stemmed another mobilisation on the Normand Progress.

Offshore Wind Farm Contract for Reef Subsea

At 576MW The Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm will be one of the largest in Europe. The contract requires Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical assist with engineering, project management, ROV and survey operations linked to the subsea installation and burial of all infield array cables for Gwynt y Môr, located 13 kilometres off the North Wales coast in Liverpool Bay. The wind farm will have an installed capacity of 576MW, and is designed to be ultimately integrated into the UK National Grid in 2014. Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical (RSPU) has been tasked with installing and burying the 161 infield inter array cables. Workscope also covers connection to the two offshore sub-stations.

Leading figures from five of Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group’s (AREG) member organizations will be highlighting and addressing current industry issues. They will also brief fellow members on recent developments and emerging solutions in their specialist areas.
