ABB Secures $27M Order to Equip Eneti's WTIV Duo

ABB has secured an order of around $27 million to supply Eneti’s two newbuild vessels with advanced power, automation, and control systems for improved safety and performance.The two $330 million wind turbine installation vessels (WTIV) will be delivered to Monaco-based offshore wind construction player Eneti Inc. from the South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in Q3 2024 – Q2 2025.The vessels will feature advanced power, automation and control systems, real-time performance analytics and electric propulsion from ABB.

Corvus to Suppy Batteries for Hybrid Cranes

Corvus Energy, the large-scale energy storage systems (ESS) provider for marine industry, has been awarded a contract to supply batteries for new fuel-efficient hybrid port cranes to be used by a US port authority to reduce emissions, fuel costs and noise.The contract to supply Corvus Orca Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for 25 new battery-hybrid Rubber Tyre Gantry (RTG) cranes is with CCCC Shanghai Equipment Engineering (CCCCSEE) and ZPMC.The battery-hybrid RTG cranes will be deployed by the South Carolina Port Authority (SCPA), where they are expected to reduce fuel consumption by up to 65% compared to conventional diesel-electric port cranes.CCCCSEE will fit two sets of Corvus battery-based ESSs onto each of 25 RTG cranes manufactured by ZPMC…

Kalmar Bags Lineas Intermodal Order

The provider of cargo handling solutions Kalmar has been awarded a contract to supply leading European rail operator Lineas Intermodal with two Kalmar Hybrid Straddle Carriers, said its parent company Cargotec.The order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q3 order intake with delivery scheduled to be completed in Q1 2020.Being the largest private rail freight operator in Europe, Lineas operates the intermodal rail connected terminal ‘Main Hub’ in Antwerp-North.The company’s Green Xpress network concept offers customers a door-to-door solution with daily, fast and reliable rail connections between Europe’s economic hubs, significantly improving the supply chain and the ecological footprint of its customers.

Corvus Energy Gets Shell Ventures Investment

Canadian-Norwegian battery maker Corvus Energy announced that it has finalized an investment deal with Shell Ventures.The investment is a step towards Shell’s ambition to decrease the carbon footprint of the energy products they sell by around 20% by 2035 and by around 50% by 2050, in step with society.Corvus Energy,  the developer and supplier of advanced energy storage systems (ESS) for maritime, offshore, subsea and port applications, said that the investment will help Corvus Energy expand internationally and further enhance its technological leadership within maritime energy storage.Corvus Energy has delivered ESSs for more than 30 offshore support vessels…

Kalmar and HHLA in Straddle Carrier Pact

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), the leading European port and transport logistics group, to supply a total of 10 new straddle carriers.This brings the total number of Kalmar straddle carriers ordered by HHLA in the last two years to 30, further demonstrating the strong relationship with Kalmar and the company's commitment to Kalmar equipment. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 third quarter order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place in Q1 2019. Established in 1968, HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) is the largest facility for container handling in the Port of Hamburg.

Liebherr: Purely Electrical Portal Crane

The new LPS 420 E is the latest extension of the Liebherr mobile harbour crane product range. The newly designed machine is a purely electric driven portal crane. All crane movements like luffing, hoisting, slewing and travelling are done by electric motors. As the LPS 420 E is a member of the LHM series, it is also characterised by high modularity. Therefore, it is a universal all-rounder and a key asset for handling every type of cargo, from containers to bulk, general cargo and heavy lifts up to 124 t. The forwardlooking machine is designed for ports and terminals with an electrical infrastructure. Equipped with two winches, each with a powerful 190 kW electric motor, the LPS 420 E provides a maximum load capacity of up to 124 tonnes.

19 Kalmar Shuttle Carriers for APM Terminal in Italy

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order for 19 hybrid shuttle carriers from APM Terminals for their newest container terminal that is under construction in Vado, Italy. The machines will be delivered during 2017. APM Terminals' deepwater Vado container terminal will be the world's first container terminal to employ an entirely hybrid shuttle carrier fleet. The Kalmar HSH240 hybrid shuttle carriers will help APM Terminals to optimise the productivity of their terminal by decoupling waterside and landside operations. The hybrid machines have been designed with an advanced regenerative energy system that converts energy from operational braking and lowering of the spreader into electric power which is then captured and stored through new and innovative battery technology.

APM Terminals Vado Orders 19 Straddle Carriers

APM Terminals has signed a contract for the delivery of 19 advanced container handlers which will employ advanced diesel/electric power sourcing to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions for Italy’s newest container terminal. Vado, Italy – APM Terminals has concluded a contract with Finnish-based container handling equipment manufacturer Kalmar for the delivery of 19 Hybrid Straddle Carriers for the new 800,000 TEU annual capacity deepwater APM Terminals Vado facility now under construction on northern Italy’s Ligurian Coast. The facility will be the world’s first container terminal to employ an entirely hybrid straddle carrier fleet.

Kalmar Bags Virginia Port Order for Shuttle Carriers

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has gained an order for three Kalmar hybrid shuttle carriers from the Port of Virginia, a multi-terminal container and breakbulk cargo complex located in Virginia, 18 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The 1-over-1 hybrid shuttle carriers will be dedicated to operations at Virginia International Gateway (VIG), one of the port's four terminals. The order was booked into Cargotec's 2014 fourth quarter order intake with delivery scheduled for third quarter 2015. VIG is a semi-automated operation with automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) in the yard operations and manual shuttle carriers used for the transport of containers from the ship-to-shore area to the ASCs.

Kalmar Delivers Three All-Electric RTGs

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract with Container Corporation of India ltd (Concor) to supply three Kalmar E-One2 rubber tyred gantry cranes to Concor's Tuglakabad terminal in New Delhi. The order is the first between Concor and Kalmar and it has been booked to Cargotec's 2012 fourth quarter order intake. The cranes will be delivered during the last quarter of 2013. Concor is a  market leader in India with over 62 inland container deports and container freight stations. The company was looking for the most technologically advanced and environmentally safe RTGs. "Kalmar's fully electrical RTGs, combined with local support, convinced Concor to choose Kalmar as a supplier.
