Arcosa Eyes Barge Market Recovery

Infrastructure-related products and solutions provider Arcosa said it is seeing signs of improvement in the U.S. barge building business following several years of low order levels.The Dallas-based company said in its second quarter earnings report that it received approximately $81 million in new barge orders, including mostly hopper barges scheduled for delivery in 2024.Arcosa's barge backlog at the end of the quarter was $287.1 million, up from $131.8 million at the end of the second quarter of 2022.

Ukraine Wheat Exports Jump Despite Government Warning

On October 3, 2019, Damen Shipyards Galati hosted a celebration marking the keel-laying of a Damen Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD) 3500 for Hanson UK. The event was well attended by representatives of both Damen Shipyards Group and Hanson UK.The keel of the new MAD 3500 was laid at the Romanian yard a few days prior to the celebration, on September 20th. At this event, tradition was observed with the inclusion of four coins in the keel – a Romanian lei, a British pound, a Dutch guilder and a euro.The MAD is a new design from Damen that can dredge material at depths of up to -55 meters.

Oil Shipments from Georgia's Batumi Port Drop

Cosco Shipping 2016 Profit Dip

Cosco Shipping International (Hong Kong) has seen its profit for the year ended December 31, 2016 drop 29 percent to HKD 236.5 million (USD 30.4 million) from HKD 362 million (USD 46.6 million) reported a year earlier. Although the company’s operating profit dropped to HKD 544.2 million for the full year from HKD 690.7 million reported in 2015, Cosco Shipping International said that its revenue for the period increased to HKD 7.4 billion from HKD 5.9 billion.
