Asian LPG Market to Cross $109Bln by 2024

The Asian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market stood at over $81.4 billion in 2018 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 5% to cross $109 billion by 2024, as increasing demand for LPG  as a fuel for power generation in remote and off-grid locations in comparison to its less environment-friendly alternatives like coal, diesel and fuel oil.Increasing demand for LPG used to run vehicles (Autogas)  is being witnessed as it is a comparatively cheaper automotive fuel and can be used in vast applications related to transportation, said a report by ResearchAndMarkets.Of the overall LPG consumed across the globe, nearly 87% is used for residential/consumer use.By source, the Asian LPG market has been categorized into Refinery, Associated Gases & Non-Associated Gases.

MOL Adds VLCC 'Phoenix Jamnagar' to Fleet

Japanese logistics major Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced, the delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), "Phoenix Jamnagar" on April 24, which was built at Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU) Ariake works and will be placed under control of Phoenix Tankers (Phoenix) based in Singapore, a 100% subsidiary of MOL.The vessel was designed and developed by JMU as a next-generation Malacca Max Type VLCC with utilizing its accumulated knowledge and technology as gained through numerous Malacca Max deliveries experiences.The vessel will primarily be employed for the crude oil transportation to India under a long-term contract between Phoenix and Reliance Industries Limited.MOL…

MOL Buys Reliance Ethane Carrier Fleet

Japanese shipping giant Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) will buy Reliance Industries (RIL) stakes in Singapore-based Reliance Ethane Holding (REHPL) which has a fleet of six very large ethane carriers (VLECs).RIL has 100% holding in six limited liability companies (LLCs) which own the VLECs. "MOL and a strategic minority investor have signed binding definitive agreements for an investment in the six special purpose limited liability companies each owning a VLEC," said a statement from the Mukesh Ambani-led Indian conglomerate holding.Transaction closing is subject to regulatory approvals. Post closing special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for LLCs shall be jointly controlled by REHPL and MOL.P.M.S.

BP, Reliance Move Ahead in Deep Water

BP and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today announced the sanctioning of the ‘Satellite cluster’ project in Block KG D6. The companies are moving forward to develop the Block’s discovered deep-water gas fields in an integrated series of projects, bringing new gas production for India. The ‘Satellite cluster’ is the second of three projects in the Block KG D6 integrated development. The first of the projects, development of the ‘R-Series’ deep-water gas fields, was sanctioned in June 2017. Together the three projects will develop a total of about 3 trillion cubic feet of discovered gas resources with a total investment of c. INR 40,000 crore (US$6 billion). Reliance Inaugurates New Ethane Carriers

In a ceremony held in Geoje (South Korea), Indian's largest private sector company Reliance Industries Limited (Reliance) inaugurated its very first two VLEC (Very Large Ethane Carrier), in the presence of the shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and other key partners of the project. These vessels, Ethane Crystal and Ethane Emerald, are the world's first ethane carriers to feature GTT's membrane technology. They are the first of a series of six vessels, ordered by Reliance in 2014, which will be fitted with GTT's membrane containment systems. With a capacity of 87,000 m³, these two vessels are the largest VLEC ever built to date. They will be used to transport liquid ethane from the United States to India.

BP, Reliance Industries Announce Partnership in India

Reliance Industries Limited and BP today announced a historic partnership between the two companies. Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, and Mr. Robert Dudley, BP Group Chief Executive, signed the relationship framework and transactional agreements in London. The partnership across the full value chain comprises BP taking a 30 per cent stake in 23 oil and gas production sharing contracts that Reliance operates in India, including the producing KG D6 block, and the formation of a 50:50 joint venture between the two companies for the sourcing and marketing of gas in India. The joint venture will also endeavour to accelerate the creation of infrastructure for receiving, transporting and marketing of natural gas in India.

Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 5-Year Contract

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG) announced that the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 has commenced operations in India under a five-year drilling contract with Reliance Industries Limited. The company currently expects that Reliance will sublet the rig for the first four years of the contract to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, and that Reliance will operate the rig for the fifth year of the contract. The Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 is the first of two ultra-deepwater newbuild drillships owned by a joint venture company with Pacific Drilling Limited and scheduled to commence operations in 2009 and 2010. The second ultra-deepwater newbuild drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 is also contracted and is scheduled to commence operations in 2010.

Aker Floating Production Wins $1b Contract

Aker Floating Production ASA said it had won a 10-year contract from Reliance Industries Limited worth $1.1b. Aker said Reliance Industries Limited had exercised an option to call a 10-year bare boat contract with Aker's subsidiary Aker Contracting for the FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading vessel) Aker SMART 1.

Transocean Sedco Forex Receives Contract Awards

Transocean Sedco Forex Inc. announced that it has been awarded contracts for two high specification floating drilling rigs and has received a contract extension on a third high-specification floating drilling rig. The semisubmersible Sovereign Explorer has been awarded a one-year primary term contract from Amerada Hess Corporation through its Triton Equatorial Guinea, Inc. business unit for drilling operations offshore Equatorial Guinea. The one-year contract, which provides for a one-year extension period, is expected to commence in early March 2002, following mobilization of the rig from the North Sea. Revenues expected to be generated over the one-year contract period, excluding mobilization and demobilization fees, could total approximately $33 million.

J. Ray McDermott Sends Jacket to India from Louisiana

J. Ray McDermott (J. Ray) project staff at the Morgan City fabrication yard successfully completed the load-out of a 9,015-ton jacket built for Reliance Industries Limited as part of an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract/purchase order undertaken at J. Ray company facilities worldwide. The load-out, which took just over 23-hours from start to finish, was the culmination of just over 12 months of hard work fabricating the jacket for the KG-D6 field on the east coast of India. Before embarking on its 13,375-nautical mile journey around the world, the jacket’s first stop was Pascagoula, MS where it rendezvoused with a Fast Transport Vessel (FTV). DeepOcean Wins Reliance Contract

DeepOcean won a contract from Reliance Industries Limited of Mumbai, India for the provision of a Multi-Purpose Subsea Support Vessel and associated services. Contract duration is for a three year fixed term starting December 2007 with a further two, one year options. The three year base scope is valued $166m while the options hold a value of $118m if exercised. The Multipurpose Service Vessel (MSV) REM Etive will be deployed in December 2007 under the terms of a commercial agreement between DeepOcean and TS Marine (Contracting) Ltd., of Aberdeen. The vessel will be utilised to support the development of oil and gas discoveries in Block KG-DWN-98/3 in the Krishna Dodavarir Basin in the Bay of Bengal on India’s east cost.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Reliance Subsea Contract

Reliance Industries Limited has awarded Aker Kvaerner an engineering, procurement and construction contract to deliver an 18 well subsea production system for the deepwater Block KG-D6 gas development located offshore the east coast of India. The contract is one of the world's largest subsea contracts ever awarded and affirms Aker Kvaerner's position as the leading contractor for deepwater subsea developments. The initial contract value is approximately $400m. Aker Kvaerner Subsea will supply a complete subsea production system including subsea trees, manifolds, steel tube umbilicals and power cables, controls system and associated connections to tie the subsea production system to an onshore gas terminal.

Transocean Inc. to Reactivate Semisubmersible Rig C. Kirk Rhein

Transocean Inc. said that Reliance Industries Limited has awarded a two-year contract for the semisubmersible rig C. Kirk Rhein, Jr. for drilling operations offshore India. The contract is expected to commence in December 2006 following the completion of a reactivation program, which has recently begun. The reactivation program does not involve an upgrade of the rig's current capabilities. Revenues that could be generated over the two-year contract period total an estimated $248 million, excluding revenues for mobilization, demobilization and client reimburseables. The C. Kirk Rhein, Jr., which entered active service in 1976 and was upgraded to its current specifications in 1997, has been idle in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico since March 2002.
