Wärtsilä to Supply Reliquefaction Systems for Eight LNG Carriers

Finland-based marine equipment firm Wärtsilä has secured a contract to supply reliquefaction systems for eight LNG carriers."These eight vessels will be owned by various leading global shipping companies. Wärtsilä Inks Services Deal with Nakilat

Wärtsilä said it has signed support agreements for liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers owned by Qatar-based shipping company Nakilat.Wärtsilä is the supplier of the LNG reliquefaction systems onboard all of the QFlex vessels covered by the agreements, which were signed in April and are valid for five years. Under the contract terms, Wärtsilä will provide 24/7 technical remote support for the vessels’ onboard Gas Process Plants.Nakilat has direct access to Wärtsilä’s dedicated team of LNG technical experts for specialized technical advice and remote troubleshooting.

Bestobell Secures Another Marine Order

Bestobell Marine has secured an order for its cryogenic globe and check valves for the second LNG carrier in the Yamal series of vessels being built at DSME shipyard in South Korea. After winning the contract to supply cryogenic valves to the first vessel that will be owned and operated by Russian company Sovcomflot, the company proved it had the expertise and capabilities to supply the second Yamal vessel, which will be owned and operated by Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL).

Dorian/Seacor‘s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers are to benefit from the latest reliquefaction plant development from Babcock’s LGE Process, following a contract signed last month (May) for the innovative vent gas cooler enhancement to be fitted on two new very large gas carriers (VLGCs) being built for Dorian/Seacor in South Korea, with an option for a possible further three vessels. Hamworthy Wins Orders for 8 LNG Reliquefaction Systems

Hamworthy PLC said it won orders to supply 8 LNG reliquefaction systems worth over 20 mln stg and said the deliveries will be made during 2008. Hamworthy said Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co Ltd ordered equipment for seven LNG carriers, while Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd has ordered equipment for one vessel. Source: AFX News

Hamworthy Gets LNG Reliquefaction Order

Hamworthy has won an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) to supply five liquid natural gas reliquefaction systems (LNG-RS), with a total value in the range of £15 to £20 million. The systems will be installed on five 216,000 cu. m. LNG carriers ordered by the ‘J5’ consortium of Japanese shipowners and will be delivered to the shipyard from January 2007. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2008. Kelvyn Derrick, Chief Executive of Hamworthy plc, said: "This brings our tally of LNG-RS shipsets to 20 with an aggregate order value of over £100 million, and represents a one hundred percent market share. We have already developed a more energy-efficient system for future bids in what will undoubtedly become a more competitive market."
