New Firefighting Vessel Christened in Poland

On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, the firefighting vessel Strażak-28 was ceremoniously christened in Szczecin, hoisting the Polish flag. New Firefighting Vessel Delivered in Poland

A new fireboat built by the Remontowa Shipbuilding SA shipyard in Gdańsk for Poland's Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA has been delivered in Szczecin.The new firefighting vessel Firefighter-28 left the Remontowa Shipbuilding SA shipyard in Gdańsk on November 13 and arrived at the port of Świnoujście the next day in the evening. On November 18, the delivery and acceptance protocol was signed, which means that the ship formally belongs to the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA.

Kongsberg to Equip Three Polish Navy Warships with Hugin AUVs

Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract award with Polish shipbuilder Remontowa Shipbuilding SA (RSB) to supply three shipsets of Kongsberg Hugin Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems and related HiPAP positioning and communication systems for three newbuild warships for the Polish Navy.The total contract value exceeds €10 million, with the Kongsberg equipment planned for the next three ships in the Kormoran II Mine-Countermeasures (MCM) vessel program (#4, #5, and #6).These three ships will be delivered between 2026 and 2027.

Hensoldt UK announcde the supply of Kelvin Hughes Mk11 X Band SharpEye navigation radars to two Polish Navy Kormoran II-class minehunters. ORP Albatros and ORP Mewa were built by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland.Installed in conjunction with an OSI Maritime Systems integrated navigation bridge system, the radar will be tasked with navigation and surface surveillance functionality, providing the Polish Navy with solid state radar sensors to ensure safety of navigation whilst providing advanced small target search capability.

BC Ferries Orders LNG-powered Ferry

Viking Supply Ships Scoops PSV Pair

Swedish-based Viking Supply Ships (VSS) in partnership with funds managed by Borealis Maritime, has entered into a contract to purchase two platform supply vessels (PSV) currently under construction. Remontowa to Build Ferries for BC Ferries

Polish shipyard Remontowa Shipbuilding SA has signed a contract for building three car-and-passenger ferries for the Canadian ship owner - BC Ferries Company, said Xinhua. The Remontowa Shipbuilding shipyard in the Polish seaside city of Gdansk has laid down the keel of the first ferry. The first ferry is to be finished in the third term of 2016. Two of the ferries to be built in Poland will replace the old ones, while the third one will make a seasonal supplement to the regular units. The ferries will be 105 meters long and able to take 145 cars and 600 passengers onboard. Earlier Remontowa won in a tender, competing with nine foreign shipyards from Germany, Norway and others. The contract covers building fully-equipped ferries and their delivery to the home port.

LR to Class BC Ferries' LNG-fueled Newbuilds

BC Ferries has awarded Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. of Gdansk, Poland contracts totaling $165 million to build three new Intermediate Class LNG-fueled passenger ferries, to be classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR). The new intermediate class vessels will be the first vessels in BC Ferries’ fleet to operate as dual-fuel capable, using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or diesel fuel for propulsion and power. Mark Wilson, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Engineering, said, "BC Ferries is very pleased to have LR as the classification society on these new ‘Intermediate Class’ ferries.

Siem Offshore Order Duel-Fuelled PSV's

Norway-based Siem Offshore has contracted Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Poland to build four dual-fuelled Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs). The vessels are to be of VS 4411 DF design, and Siem Offshore say that they currently have two vessels of similar design under construction for delivery in 2014 and 2015. The new PSV's will be equipped with dual-fuel LNG or Marine Diesel Oil (MDO) systems which Siem Offshore claim to represent the latest technology of dual fuelled systems and hull design,giving benefits of lower fuel consumption, lower fuel cost, lower emissions and a better environment.

Seaspan on BC Ferries' Newbuilding RFP Shortlist

In the RFP, BC Ferries has stipulated that these three vessels be designed to operate as dual-fuel capable. Specifically, these ships will be able to operate on either Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or Marine Diesel Oil (MDO). BC Ferries is pursuing funding under incentive programs to help offset any incremental capital costs associated with the use of LNG.

Danish Ferry to Operate on LNG Fuel

Marine industry solutions and services provider Wärtsilä is to supply the main propulsion generating sets for a new, environmentally sound, double ended ferry. The ship, which is the first gas fuelled ferry for a domestic route in Denmark, will operate between Jutland and the island of Samsø and will carry passengers, cars and trucks. The vessel, designed by the Danish OSK-ShipTech A/S, will be built for the Danish municipality Samsø Kommune by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Gdansk, Poland. Wärtsilä signed the contract in June.

This order is for the first Danish ferry to be operated on LNG fuel. The ferry project sets an environmental benchmark for inland ferries, and according to Wärtsilä is being closely followed by other municipalities and governmental bodies in Denmark and abroad. Wärtsilä is to supply the main propulsion generating sets for a new, environmentally sound, double ended ferry. The ship, which is the first gas fuelled ferry for a domestic route in Denmark, will operate between Jutland and the island of Samsø and will carry passengers, cars and trucks.

Siem Offshore Order DP CLV from Remontowa

Siem Offshore contracts Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. of Poland to construct a dynamically positioned Cable Lay Vessel (CLV). The associated gross project cost for the first vessel, scheduled for April 2015 and ready for operation, is approx. USD 85 million. The CLV has been designed in close cooperation with VARD Design and will have an overall length of 95.3 meters, a breadth of 21.5 meters, a cable payload of 4,250 tons and an accommodation for 60 persons. GulfMark Orders Three PSVs from Poland

GulfMark Offshore, Inc. (NYSE: GLF) announced the initiation of a vessel construction program. The first three vessels in the program will be built by Remontowa Shipbuilding SA in Gdansk, Poland, and consists of two 1000 square meter deck area platform supply vessels of the MMC887CD design and one MMC879CD design with a deck area of over 800 square meters. These large and technologically advanced vessels have been designed to meet the demanding requirements for supporting deepwater and harsh environment activities, and are expected to operate in the North Sea market. The first MMC887CD vessel is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2013. The second MMC887CD vessel and the MMC879CD vessel are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2013.
