Vattenfall, TuuliWatti to Balance Finnish Wind

European energy company Vattenfall has signed a five-year energy services agreement with the largest Finnish wind power producer TuuliWatti that includes the latter’s total wind power production in Finland.The agreement, which started on 1 January, entails forecasting, trading and balancing services for TuuliWatti’s total wind power production in Finland.Currently, the company’s wind power portfolio has an installed capacity of 441 MW and annual production of approximately 1,3 TWh, which equals to 20% of Finland’s annual wind production in 2019.“The agreement with TuuliWatti is fully in line with Vattenfall’s ambition to become a leading provider of renewable energy services to corporate customers in Europe.

New Framework for Wind Energy Assessments

The new framework document, developed over two years in collaboration with leading consultants and developers, will lead to more transparency and advancements in the quantification of project losses and uncertainties says DNV KEMA. Various entities in the Renewable UK Wind Resource Working Group have come together to propose that the wind industry adopt a common framework for discussing both energy losses and uncertainties around energy assessments. Floating Solar Field Concept Unveiled by DNV

DNV has developed SUNdy, a large-scale offshore solar field concept that aims to help countries seeking alternative energy sources. The core feature of the concept is a hexagonal array which floats on the sea surface. A collection of these arrays, totaling 4,200 solar panels, forms a solar island the size of a large football stadium, capable of generating 2 MW of power. Multiple islands connected together make up a solar field of 50 MW or more, producing enough electricity for 30,000 people.
