Europe Installs 1.9 GW Offshore Wind Capacity in H1

Europe added 1.9 GW of new offshore wind was installed in the first half of 2019, up from the 1.1 GW added in the same period in 2018, according to figures released by WindEurope.The UK (931 MW), Denmark (374 MW), Belgium (370 MW) and Germany (252 MW) accounted for these installations. This includes Hornsea 1 in the UK which, when completed, will be the world’s largest wind farm with 1.2 GW.In the first half of 2019 Europe invested €8.8bn in the construction of future wind farms, €6.4bn in onshore wind and €2.4bn in offshore wind. These investments will result in 5.9 GW being installed and grid connected over the next two to three years. Van Oord, SGRE Win Windpark Fryslân Job

The consortium of Van Oord and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has signed a conditional contract to build the Windpark Fryslân nearshore wind farm in the Netherlands.The large-scale nearshore wind farm is to be built in the Frisian part of the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands to Zuiderzeewind.Signed in Amsterdam, the conditional contract comprises the construction of the 380-plus MW nearshore wind farm as well as service operations for at least 16 years following completion.Van Oord – Siemens Gamesa were named preferred contractor for the project on 3 August 2018. The final investment decision is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2019.The Windpark Fryslân project is to be built in the IJsselmeer to the south of the Afsluitdijk near Breezanddijk.

Infigen Energy Mulls Shedding U.S. Wind Farms
