MODEC and Toray Develop New FPSO Repair Technique

Progress in Brazil Repair Yard Project

The Brasil Basin Drydock Company (BBDC), a joint venture of McQuilling Services and Promon Engenharia, is setting up an industrial facility that will drydock and repair seagoing merchant vessels up to the largest merchant ships in the world.McQuilling announced the signing of a Protocol of Intention with the government of the state of Paraíba, Brazil, along with Chinese ship repair yard IMC YY.David Saginaw, Commercial Director for McQuilling Services, signed the Protocol on behalf shareholders of the Brasil Basin Drydock Company (BBDC). Governor João Azevedo signed on behalf of the government and Chen Yong, President of IMC YY ship repair yard in Zhoushan, China, signed on behalf of the yard.

STATS Group Adds New Directors

Pipeline engineering specialist STATS Group said it has appointed two new directors as part of a strategy to increase its international presence in key oil and gas regions. The newly created roles see Dave Vernon promoted to Director of Isolation Services and Dale Millward promoted to Director of EPRS & Subsea Services. FAST 2011: Addressing Speed on the Water

FAST 2011 is the 11th International Conference on Fast Sea Transportation. Started in Trondheim, Norway in 1991, FAST conferences take place every two years and are the world’s leading conferences addressing fast sea transportation issues. Recent FAST conferences were held in Athens, Greece (2009), Shanghai, China (2007), and St. Petersburg, Russia (2005). According to Todd Peltzer, director of programs for Honolulu-based Navatek, FAST 2011 will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from September 26 to 29, 2011, at the Regency Ballroom Convention Center of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki hotel. GE Oil & Gas $120M Subsea Service Contract

Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras), a world leader in deep-water and ultra-deep water oil production, has awarded GE Oil & Gas a four-year service agreement to deliver repairs, maintenance and retrofits on Petrobras’ fleet of subsea equipment installed in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil. The scope of the agreement, valued at approximately $120M, includes service and repairs on over 300 exploration and 250 production tools, as well as retrofitting six subsea production trees each year with GE advanced technology.
