Emerson Upgrades Reservoir Engineering Suite

Digital Generation to Enhance O&G Production, Safety

BP poll shows delegates at SPE Intelligent Energy International 2013 believe the digital generation will enable emerging technologies to optimize production and enhance safety management. Oil and gas industry professionals believe that the digital generation will enable emerging technologies to optimize production and enhance safety management, according to a poll conducted today at the SPE Intelligent Energy International 2013 exhibition in Dubai. 93% of participants backed the benefits of digitalization while 7% disagreed. The poll was conducted by BP on the final day of IE2013, which is expected to have attracted more than 2,000 business leaders and senior engineering professionals from across the world.

WCI Executives Endorse Senate Waterway Bills

Waterways Council, Inc.’s (WCI) Executive Committee has endorsed two Senate waterways bills introduced by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL): “Mississippi River Navigation Sustainment Act” (S. 565) and “Water Infrastructure Now Public-Private Partnership Act” (WIN P3) (S. 566), co-sponsored by Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL). Qatar Shell Order Offshore Solution's OAS

Offshore Solutions expand its Offshore Access System (OAS) operations in Qatar with another contract. Offshore Solutions BV (OSBV), the joint venture between AMEC and Cofely Nederland NV, continues to build on recent successes in The Gulf, after being awarded a Variation Order (VO) to its existing contract with Qatar Shell GTL Limited (Shell Qatar) for a second Offshore Access System (OAS), bringing its operational units with oil and gas majors in the region to three. The latest addition is to support Shell Qatar’s Wells Reservoir Management Campaign and will see an OAS unit deployed on the Halul 50 multi purpose offshore vessel for a period of seven months with a possible option to extend.

Offshore O&M Expenditure Forecast: $335B in 5 Years

More than $335 billion worth of expenditure is expected over the next five years on offshore oil & gas operations & maintenance (O&M), according to a new report, The World Offshore Operations & Maintenance Market Forecast 2012-2016, by Douglas-Westwood (DW). The concept chosen for the Mariner heavy oil project on the UK continental shelf includes a production, drilling and quarter (PDQ) platform based on a steel jacket, with a floating storage unit (FSU). Statoil expects a final investment decision in late 2012 and first oil in late 2016. The Bressay heavy oil project on the UK continental shelf is also progressing according to plan, one year behind Mariner, to ensure transfer of learning and synergies.

Offshore: OTC Announces Technology Winners

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) announces 15 winners for its inaugural Spotlight on New Technology Program. These winners are recognized before, during and after the 35th annual OTC, 3-6 May, Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston. New Technology program, " said Rod Allan, OTC .04 Chairman. Applications for the Spotlight on New Technology were distributed at OTC .03 and were due 9 January 2004. Submissions had to meet four criteria: new and innovative, proven, broad interest, and significant impact. Winners will be recognized on site at this year's conference, scheduled May 3-6, on the exhibition floor and in the registration area. Spotlight on New Technology will continue as an annual recognition program coinciding with OTC.
