LNG Carrier Rescues Injured Sailors
A Malta-flagged liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier assisted in the rescue of two injured sailors off the coast of Puerto Rico.The BW Lilac, part of the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER), diverted to assist two injured mariners who reportedly sustained injuries aboard the 32-foot sailing vessel Uplace and were in need of care ashore.U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders in Sector San Juan received a request from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center at 9:45p.m., Saturday, to medevac the sailing vessel's master, who had sustained a leg injury.

Euroseas Vessel Rescues 105 Migrants
Euroseas Ltd. announced today that on February 18, 2016, the crew of its container carrier, Vento di Grecale, rescued 105 Somalian, Sudanese and Egyptian migrants/refugees, including three pregnant women and a number of children from an endangered wooden boat that sank in choppy waters a few minutes after rescue. The M/V Vento di Grecale received a distress call from Malta's Marine Response Coordination Center ("MRCC Malta"), while sailing South West of Crete en route to Salerno, Italy. The ship's Captain, Rey Salcedo and crew immediately responded to the call locating the wooden boat, which was found to be holed with water leaking and secured it alongside the vessel.
USCG Medevacs Man From Sailboat off NC Coast
The Coast Guard medevaced an injured 62-year-old man from his sailboat Thursday approximately 100 miles east of Kill Devil Hills. Watchstanders at the Fifth Coast Guard District command center in Portsmouth, Virginia, received notification at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center, reporting they received a distress message from the sailboat Austina. The report stated the boat operator fell, injured his hip and was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the crew of the MCT Matterhorn to assist. The MCT Matterhorn is registered with the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System.
Rescue Underway for Sailboat Caught in Hurricane Julio
The Coast Guard is coordinating the rescue of a 42-foot sailboat caught in Hurricane Julio 414 miles northeast of Oahu Sunday. Sailing vessel Walkabout is disabled and taking on water with three people aboard. On-scene conditions are reported as 92 to 115 mph winds with 30-foot seas. One of the hatches has blown away and onboard bilge pumps are unable to keep up with the rate of flooding. The vessel's life raft has also been blown overboard. At 7:15 a.m., watchstanders at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center in Honolulu received notification from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center in Texas that an alert message was received from Walkabout requesting Coast Guard assistance.

Survivor Rescued by Coast Guard and USNS Comfort
Response Coordination Center (RCC) Bermuda called off the search for two boaters reported missing Wednesday night after a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft and the USNS Comfort rescued one survivor who had been floating without a lifejacket for about 18 hours. Around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, a C-130 aircraft from Elizabeth City, N.C., launched to search for a distress signal off Bermuda with a second aircraft replacing them later that morning. The C-130 located a person in the water waving at them at approximately noon and dropped them a life raft with survival gear. USNS Comfort , recently deployed in support of the war on terrorism, diverted to assist in the rescue at the request of Response Coordination Center Bermuda.
