Royal Thai Navy signs on for a new RAmparts 3200-SD Tug

A contract for a new RAmparts 3200-SD tug was recently signed by Robert Allan Ltd. and Asian Marine Services Public Company Limited (ASIMAR) of Thailand for the design for the Royal Thai Navy. ASIMAR signed the construction contract with the Royal Thai Navy on May 25th, 2021, with Admiral Chatchai Sriworakan, Commander in Chief presiding over the signing ceremony.The Royal Thai Navy currently operates two RAmparts 3200 tugs, and this third RAmparts 3200 tugboat will, similar to the previous two tugs…

Ardent and Singapore Salvage Engineers Join Forces for Emergency Response

Maritime services provider Ardent and Singapore Salvage Engineers (SSE) have joined forces for future operations within Singapore and adjacent waters. The two companies signed a cooperation agreement on the 19th of January 2018 to closely work together on future opportunities and at the same time retain their own corporate identities. “Through SSE’s strong background within the immediate region of Singapore and adjacent waters in combination with the diversity of resources they operate, this cooperation enables the provision of high quality, cost efficient and prompt response solutions towards the maritime and offshore industry in this particular region.” said Bas Michiels, Ardent’s Director Asia.

Zycraft Completes Longest Range Spares Delivery at Sea

Zycraft announced it had recently completed its longest range and fastest delivery of spares to a vessel in the Indian Ocean with one of its Shomari Long Range Vessels (LRV-17). The Nimble Cheetah traveled a total distance of 980 nautical miles at 25 knots to deliver critical engineering spares to a AHTS vessel that was towing a major oil and gas cargo. The trip to the distressed vessel was achieved in just over 40 hours. This is the fifth time that the Shomari LRV-17 has been called out for long range delivery of spares. The previous record was achieved in 2015 and involved going 700 nautical miles into the Java Sea to transfer critical equipment and personnel to an oil rig that was under tow and heading to Australia.

He has extensive experience with OPA 90 compliance issues with particular focus on vessel owner and insurance matters. Candito was previously an attorney with Haight Gardner Poor & Havens, specializing in maritime litigation and environmental law. He also served as a marine engineer aboard Exxon USA’s domestic tanker fleet from 1980 to 1985. Candito is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Protection Vessels International Achieves LRQA Accreditation

Private maritime security services provider, Protection Vessels International (PVI), part of Protection Group International, informs that it has achieved ISO/PAS 28007 certification from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). PVI was one of the first private maritime security companies (PMSCs) to participate in the ISO/PAS 28007 pilot scheme which aims to set the benchmark for PMSCs who want to demonstrate to the international community that they, and the operatives they supply, are of the right quality to legally, safely and effectively guard commercial shipping on the high seas.

DNV Publishes Oil and Gas Safety Report

In the report entitled Enhancing offshore safety and environmental performance, DNV suggests critical levers to provide a more holistic safety framework across the oil and gas industry. CEO Remi Eriksen, DNV Maritime and Oil & Gas, said new regulations, such as the EU directive, mirror society’s zero tolerance for offshore accidents. “The offshore industry has achieved an outstanding improvement in occupational safety over the past three decades. Although it has learned much from major accidents in the past, such accidents are still occurring. In launching “Enhancing offshore safety and environmental performance,” DNV said it aims to offer guidance to build a safer working environment.

Lehman & Company, a leading middle-market private equity firm focused on the defense, aerospace, and maritime sectors. Senior debt financing for the acquisition was arranged by BNP Paribas Securities Corp. (as sole lead arranger). Jones Day LLP provided legal counsel to NRC. New Effort to Collect & Review Oil Spill Solutions

The Interagency Alternative Technology Assessment Program workgroup, newly established by the National Incident Commander for the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, announced a new effort to collect and review oil spill response solutions from scientists and vendors. The Coast Guard’s Research and Development Center, in collaboration with interagency partners, issued a Broad Agency Announcement on www.FedBizOpps.gov, calling for the submission of white papers that cover: oil sensing improvements to response and detection; oil wellhead control and submerged oil response; traditional oil spill response technologies; alternative oil spill response technologies; and oil spill damage assessment and restoration.
