EASTMED to Add VSAT on 20 Tankers and Bulkers
Greece-based Eastern Mediterranean Maritime Limited (EASTMED), a shipping operator servicing the energy, industrial and agricultural sectors, has chosen to install Marlink’s global VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) communication solution with L-band back-up on 20 tankers and bulkers. EASTMED aims to achieve greater operational efficiency to support its clients with cost efficient transportation in a safe environment. The VSAT solution will be completed with the full SkyFile suite to provide EASTMED crew with high-level Internet access and cost-effective communication. Aquatic Enhances Offshore Personnel Training
Aquatic Engineering & Construction Ltd., an Acteon company, has worked with specialist health and safety training provider Survivex, to create a bespoke course for its offshore teams who work at height using harnesses. Aquatic’s modular reel drive systems can stand up to 7m high when assembled, and the company’s offshore teams must use harnesses and ladders to complete the assembly. In addition to teaching best practice during normal operations, the course will also show personnel how to secure and rescue a colleague who has fallen in the harness or become unconscious.
CMA CGM Add New VSAT Services from Marlink
Marlink has been chosen by the CMA CGM Group, the world’s third largest container shipping group, to upgrade the majority of its fleet to WaveCall, Marlink’s standardized Ku-band VSAT service. In combination with the XChange solutions platform from Astrium Services, WaveCall will be installed on over 35 CMA CGM vessels, including the CMA CGM Marco Polo, CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt and CMA CGM Jules Verne, one of the largest container vessels in the world. As CMA CGM’s fleet covers global trade routes, extensive Ku-band coverage was a key requirement when choosing WaveCall.
