US Maritime Industry Seeks $3.5 Billion in COVID-19 Relief

In a joint plea to Congressional leadership and Treasury Secretary Steven Munchin this week a host of maritime transportation entities asked that $3.5 billion in COVID-19 relief funding be made available for the U.S. maritime transportation sector, citing “significant hardships” and “unique and unexpected challenges” posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.The letters ask Congress and the Administration to take immediate action to provide the whole of the maritime transportation system…

Greg Hewitt (MBA, B.Sc.) has over 25 years of versatile experience from industrial equipment, transportation, major appliances and retail businesses. He has worked as President and CEO in Heil Trailer International, as Vice President & General Manager in Komatsu North America, Construction Division, and as Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Jacobsen, a Textron Company. "Greg Hewitt will be focusing on the development of our sales and service and customer interfaces in the Americas region, with the target to increase Kalmar's market share in the region. Total Marine Fuels Appoint New MD

Total Marine Fuels has appointed Anna Whitehouse as managing director, succeeding Christophe Girardot who has held the position for the past 4 years. Ms Whitehouse is a chemical engineer and has spent 25 years working in the petroleum industry, including 20 years within the Total group holding various positions in France, the UK and abroad. A company statement says that her 10 years experience in Asia, working mainly in the lubricants and retail businesses, will help her develop Total Marine Fuels in that region. “Today,” says Ms Whitehouse, “Total Marine Fuels has several faces. In Europe our aim is to market bunker fuels produced by the European refineries of the Total group including Le Havre, Donges, Fos/Lavera and Antwerp.

Dominion to Sell Offshore E&P Ops for $4.7B

Dominion agreed to sell its offshore natural gas and oil exploration and production operations to Eni Petroleum Co. Inc., a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni, for approximately $4.76 billion. These operations include approximately 967 billion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas and oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico shelf and deep water as of Dec. 31, 2006, with 2006 average daily production of approximately 503 million cubic feet equivalent. "Today’s announcement is a significant step in Dominion’s previously announced strategic plan to refocus on the power generation and energy distribution, transmission, storage and retail businesses," said Chairman, President and CEO Thomas F. Farrell II.
