New Leadership at Mustang Survival and Wing Group

Kenny Ballard has been appointed Mustang Survival’s new President, taking over responsibilities from Juanita Killen, who stepped into the role of Interim President in 2023. Additionally, Lance Richardson takes on the newly created role of VP, Manufacturing and Innovation for the Wing Group, Mustang Survival’s parent company.Ballard brings a wealth of experience from previous executive roles with renowned brands, including Osprey, SwissGear, Wenger Outdoor, Kelty, and, most recently, his own successful consulting firm.

India, S. Arabia in New Petro Relationship

India and Saudi Arabia have decided to expand its ‘energy relationship’ into next phase to include Saudi partnership in building additional crude oil storage reserves in India, a new refinery on the west coast of India and investment in retail sector in petroleum.Saudi Arabia is its second-biggest supplier of crude oil after Iraq. Cruise Industry Embraces Transcritical CO2 Technology

International technology group GEA signed a contract for its new transcritical CO2 industrial refrigeration technology, with P&O Cruises, part of Carnival Corporation & PLC.The green refrigeration technology has already been installed on board P&O Cruises 2,000-passenger ship Arcadia, where it will deliver the energy-efficient cooling supply for all of the ship’s food and beverage refrigeration units. MJM Group Buys Mivan

MJM Group Chairman Brian McConville announced that he has bought Mivan out of administration. Established in 1983 by the McConville family, MJM Group refurbishes Cruise Liners, Ferries, Super Yachts, luxury hotel and leisure facilities, office and retail and private residential. Mivan, one of Northern Ireland's best known construction companies, was founded by Ivan McCabrey in 1975 and specialized in fitting out cruise ships and high-end commercial and residential developments. Earlier this week, Mivan announced that they have ceased trading, but this news means that the Mivan brand will continue. “There are obvious synergies between the two operations which will allow us great efficiencies and economies of scale.

Georgia Ports Authority, 22% Growth for August

Georgia Ports Authority’s (GPA) Executive Director Curtis J. Foltz announced the GPA experienced 22% container growth in August and has recorded nine consecutive months of double-digit growth. “August represented the second highest total containers handled through our ports, and the month’s total volume was only slightly behind the record set in July 2010,” said Foltz. In August 2010, the GPA moved 139,281 containers, which was a 22% increase compared with 114,162 containers moved in August 2009. VT Group Buys Training Firm

Shipbuilding and support services supplier VT Group PLC bought training company Touchstone Learning and Skills Ltd for $20.9 million. VT acquired the work-based training provider, which specializes in the retail sector, from Martin Loftus and Touchstone Property Management Ltd. Southampton-based VT is paying $1.3 million in cash on completion and $19.6 in loan notes. Touchstone has annual profits of more than $1.7 million, operates primarily through UK government-funded contracts with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and has offices in several locations across England. VT, which already works in the hospitality, leisure, engineering and care sectors, said the acquisition would allow it to move into the retail market. (Source: Forbes)

Coalition Urges President to Intervene

In a letter to President Bush yesterday, the West Coast Waterfront Coalition urged the President to take whatever steps are necessary to reopen the ports on the West Coast of the United States. Director Robin Lanier of the letter sent on October 2. "Even if we were to end this impasse today, it would take more than a month to recover and get our supply chains back in working order.
