Sapura Energy Bags Multiple Contracts

Malaysia’s oilfield services player Sapura Energy said it has has clinched contracts worth a total of MYR 1 billion ($242 million) for several new oil patch deals and one – the company’s first – offshore wind contract.The 10 new contracts are for its engineering and construction and drilling segments across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia, said a press release from the company.In addition, the company has been selected for a frame agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for fixed offshore structure works, the company said in a statement today.Regarding the first offshore wind farm contract, the statement said, "Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd (Sapura Offshore) has been awarded a contract by Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd.

Shell Hires Velesto Energy for Malaysia Drilling

Velesto Energy was awarded a RM 101 million (USD 25 million) contract from Sarawak Shell Bhd (SSB) and Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd (SSPC) for the provision of jack up drilling rig services.Velesto Energy was formerly known as UMW Oil & Gas Corp  and a wholly owned subsidiary Velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd (VED). SSB/SSPC are subsidiaries of Royal Dutch Shell Plc.Velesto said it would deploy the Naga 7 jack-up rig for the contract, with the start date to be between August 1, 2018, and  September 30, 2018.The Naga 7, designed by Gusto MSC, was built in China in 2015. UMW Wins Petronas Contract

UMW Offshore Drilling has received two contracts from Petronas Carigali worth US$34.81mil to provide services to its firm and optional wells. UMW Offshore Drilling is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Malaysian Ventures (UMV), which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Oil & Gas Corporation (UMW-OG). UMW-OG said that the contracts are to provide jack-up drilling rig services for both firm and optional wells. The Contract is for the provision of Drilling Rig Services for PCSB’s Drilling Programme, whereby UMW-OG Group will assign its UMW NAGA 3 for this contract. UMW NAGA 3 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig that has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and has a rated operating water depth of 350 feet.

GDI, Dolphin Energy Sign Offshore Drilling Rig Services Contract

Qatar’s Gulf International Services (GIS), the leading service group, has announced that its subsidiary Gulf Drilling International (GDI) has signed a contract with Dolphin Energy for drilling rig services. The contract was signed by Mubarak A al-Hajri, managing director and chief executive officer and Hassan al-Emadi, general manager, Dolphin Energy, Qatar. The work under this contract will be performed by the high spec jack-up rig "Al Jassra" and will consist of drilling three wells on the DOL 1 production platform located in offshore waters of Qatar. The service will commence this month. GDI has provided liftboat services to Dolphin Energy in the past and noted that its new liftboat "Al Safliya" is set to commence working for Dolphin Energy under a five-year contract later this month.

Drydocks World Completes NDC Rig Repair

Drydocks World informs it has completed a refurbishment project on the National Drilling Company’s (NDC) offshore drilling Rig Beynouna. Drydocks World’s rig services and offshore project management methodology turned around the major repair on Rig Beynouna ahead of schedule in 28 days. Drydocks World has previously completed numerous projects for NDC, progressively increasing its strategic alliance over the years. For Rig Beynouna Drydocks World carried out drydocking, hull treatment, crane repairs, HP piping, SW lines cleaning, accommodation repairs and treatment works.

Semco Maritime Expands in Houston

Rig upgrade and repair specialist Semco Maritime opens new Houston office on January 23, offering services for rig customers in Canada, Gulf of Mexico and Brazil. Project management and offshore engineering company Semco Maritime is now opening a new, larger office in Houston, where the Danish company has been present for several years with a sales office. According to the company’s vice president Tom Dalton, “Oil prices may fluctuate, but rig customers’ need of service and upgrades for their drilling fleet remains.

Semco and PV Join Forces for Rig Upgrade

Semco Maritime and PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard join forces to establish high class rig upgrade player in South East Asia - Vung Tau Rig Services. The initiative shall tap into the growing market for rig upgrades in the region. Semco Maritime opens new office at the PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard office building to strengthen the strategic partnership PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard (PVMS) and Semco Maritime JSC have entered into a strategic partnership with the aim to perform rig repair, refurbishment and upgrades in Vietnam for local and international rig operators in the region. Keppel Wins Twin Jackup Rig Order

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured contracts to build two high-specification KFELS B Class Bigfoot jackup rigs from returning customer Gulf Drilling International Ltd. (q.s.c.) (GDI) of Qatar, worth about US$393 million. These latest contracts follow closely after Keppel FELS was awarded a newbuild jackup rig contract by one of GDI's Shareholders, Japan Drilling Company, in March this year. Scheduled for delivery in the third quarters of 2013 and 2014, the two latest rigs mark GDI's first new orders in six years, and will increase the company's jackup fleet count to seven units.

Wärtsilä Power for ORS Semi-Submersible Platform

Wärtsilä Corporation was awarded a contract in November 2005 by Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China to supply the main engines, thrusters and associated ancillary equipment for the new offshore semi-submersible platform "ORS Pioneer". Wärtsilä will deliver six Wärtsilä 32 diesel engines and motor-driven steerable thrusters together with various ancillary equipment. The main engines have a combined power of 29 MW. This new offshore platform has been contracted at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard by the Norwegian company Offshore Rig Services AS. The platform has been designed by Global Maritime AS in Norway. It is a multipurpose, mobile platform suitable for various offshore operations including drilling and well intervention. It is due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2008.
