1804 - Lieutenant Stephen Decatur, with volunteers from frigate Constitution and schooner Enterprise, enters Tripoli harbor by night in the ketchIntrepid to burn the captured frigate Philadelphia. Decatur's raid succeeds without American losses. 1815 - USS Constitution captures the British vessel Susannah. 1945 - Carrier aircraft from Vice Adm. Marc A. Mitscher's Task Force 58 strike Japanese installations around Tokyo. 1967 - Operation River Raider begins in the Mekong Delta, South Vietnam.
