Maersk Sets Up Green Methanol Company

Maersk has teamed up with its majority owner to form a new company to produce "green methanol", the shipping company said on Thursday, as it held a naming ceremony for the world's first container vessel powered by the low-carbon fuel.Green methanol, produced either from biomass or captured carbon and hydrogen from renewable power, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from container ships by 60% to 95% compared with conventional fossil fuels.With more than 100 container vessels capable of sailing on methanol on order…

Shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk said on Monday it had appointed Vincent Clerc, who has been with the firm for 25 years, to replace Soren Skou as Chief Executive Officer as of Jan 1. Company veteran Clerc, who currently heads the company's Ocean & Logistics business, is taking the helm at a time of slowing demand for transport and logistics as a global recession looms. "The strong tailwinds that benefited the supply chain industries during the pandemic are coming to an end," said chair of the board Robert Maersk Uggla in a statement.

Henrik Poulsen, CEO of offshore wind giant Ørsted, who recently announced his decision to step down after eight years with the firm, will join Denmark's maritime giant AP Moller Holding.The A.P. Moller Group comprises of A.P. Moller - Maersk, Danske Bank, Maersk Drilling, Maersk Tankers, Maersk Product Tankers, KK Wind Solutions and A.P. Moller Capital. A.P. Moller Holding is the parent company of the Group.Poulsen will join AP Moller Holding (APMH) as a Senior Advisor and member of its Investment Committee on February 1, 2021.

Shipping Execs Call for Action to Resolve Maersk Etienne Standstill

At its recent general meeting of AP Moller-Maersk, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller's grandson Robert Maersk Uggla was elected to the board of the company, which will ensure the family's active ownership and continuity in the company, according to a report by Børsen with Maritime Denmark. Citing Robert Maersk Uggla the report indicates that he thinks it means a lot to the family. They wished to remain as an active owner of A. P.
