In business, as in life, after major anniversary milestones like 60 (Diamond) and 75 (Diamond or Sapphire), it seems that every year after that is worth celebrating. However, 90 years is somewhat in the nether regions of celebrations; certainly, a major achievement after say 75, but not quite the centenary either. Webb Receives SS Beaver Medal for Maritime Excellence

Rollie Webb, Senior Vice President at Robert Allan Ltd., was presented with the SS Beaver Medal for Maritime Excellence by the Lt. Governor of B.C. Judith Guichon on behalf of the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in a ceremony held on November 9 in Victoria. Webb joined Robert Allan Ltd. in 2008 and assumed duties as Senior Vice President in 2015. Robert Allan Ltd.: The Place that Launched 1,000 Tugs

Over the last few years, as the design output from Robert Allan Ltd. to the global tugboat community began to border on the prodigious, we were often asked, “How many tugs has your company designed?” Until very recently we really did not have a good handle on that number, so the answer was usually either “a lot” or “many hundreds”, neither of which were particularly illuminating. So a search was begun late in 2016 to review our archives and try to determine the tug tally much more precisely. Would we rival Helen? Where did it all begin?

Fitzpatrick Appointed President of Robert Allan

The Board of Directors of Robert Allan Ltd. have accepted the announcement from Ken Harford, P. Eng. of his intention to retire in June, 2016 after eight years of leadership at Robert Allan Ltd. “Having completed the ownership transition from Rob Allan and his family to a group of senior managers and subsequently involving a further group of dedicated employees in the company ownership, it is time to pass the helm to the next generation” Harford said. The company informed that the Board extends its sincere gratitude to Ken for the superb job he has done in managing the company through this challenging process. The Board of Directors have appointed Mike Fitzpatrick as the new President with Ken Harford remaining as a Managing Director during this succession process.

Webb, Christopher Join Robert Allan Ltd.

Robert Allan Ltd. announced the recent appointment of two senior staff members. Roland (Rollie) Webb has been appointed as Manager, New Construction. Webb comes to Robert Allan Ltd. with many years of shipbuilding and management experience across Canada and in the United States. From 1993 to 2003, Web was President of Todd Pacific Shipyard Corporation, Seattle, WA, and most recently was President, Shipyards at Washington Marine Group, Vancouver, BC. Webb will be responsible for the overall management of our numerous new vessel construction projects around the world. David H.

Van Dawark to Head Todd Pacific Shipyards

Thomas V. Van Dawark will assume duties as the president and chief operating officer of Todd Pacific Shipyards. Stephen Welch, Todd Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, made the announcement. Van Dawark is the former president and CEO of Marine Resources and Foss Maritime Co. In his 14 years as president, he grew revenue and income substantially. Welch said Van Dawark will build on the solid foundation that Rollie Webb established. Webb recently announced his resignation from the president and COO position.
