DSM Dyneema to Appeal Patent Case Ruling

DSM will appeal against a ruling by a judge in the Court of Milan that one of its Patents is not valid, the company announced in a press release today. According to DSM, the court case dates back to 2009 and was brought by DSM against EOS, a distributor based in Italy and Zhong Fang (also known as Beijing Tongyizhong), a Chinese based manufacturer of UHMWPE fibers. The allegation against both companies was that its fiber, mainly intended for use in rope applications, has infringed DSM’s patent number EP1126052. A patent expert appointed by the judge argued that the patent obtained by DSM was not valid. DSM appointed an independent patent expert to review the evidence. His conclusion was that the patent is valid.

Delta Named Redaelli Exclusive Distributor

Delta Rigging & Tools, Inc., a provider of of lifting and rigging products and related services in the United States, announced that they have reached an agreement with Redaelli to be the exclusive Redaelli distributor for both onshore and offshore in the U. S. Gulf of Mexico region. The agreement gives Delta Rigging & Tools sales and marketing exclusivity in the Gulf of Mexico region for Redaelli specialty compacted, non-rotating and multi-strand Steel Wire Ropes. Based in Milan, Italy, Redaelli produces steel wire ropes leveraging almost 200 years of experience. Redaelli wire ropes are found in numerous onshore and offshore sectors.

MTNW & Delmar – New Approaches to Offshore Mooring

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) implemented its running line tensiometer (RLT) technology with a Samson synthetic rope in an offshore mooring monitoring project engineered by Delmar Systems. This implementation is MTNW’s first use of tension measurement technology with 2”+ synthetic ropes. Recently, Delmar Systems was contracted to moor an offshore supply vessel (OSV) to a major offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The OSV is being used as a support vessel while dive operations are conducted.
