COLI Transports Shiploader and Related Project Cargo to Rotterdam

After 2.5 months of engineering and logistics preparation, COLI Shipping & Transport successfully delivered a second hand shiploader and related project cargo from Hamriyah, UAE, to Rotterdam, the Netherlands.The project was handled by COLIā€™s Istanbul Team.The main unit, a 15.5 x 8 x 8.4 meter shiploader, was initially surveyed by a local team of engineers that the company deployed in the UAE to make sure all hydraulics and steering gear were in order.In two days, the cargo was moved from a laydown area located near Hamriyah Port and prepared for lifting and transportā€¦

GES Closes Rotterdam Terminal Deal

Global Energy Storage (GES) announced it has closed the transaction to acquire part of the Stargate Terminal from Gunvor Group in Europoort, Port of Rotterdam.GES, which signed a binding agreement to take over the site in November 2021, now owns four Class 1 product tanks totaling over 212 thousand cubic meters with long-term off-take from Gunvor. In addition, GES has acquired the rights to develop approximately 20 hectares of vacant land. Furthermore, it is pursuing expansion projects to support the Energy Transitionā€¦

APM Sells Rotterdam Terminal to Hutchison

The Netherlands-based terminal operator APM Terminals, a subsidiary of Maersk Group, has signed a letter of intent for the sale of APM Terminals Rotterdam to Hutchison Ports, owner of the adjacent ECT Delta terminal.The complete transfer of shares is based on the agreement that, in the short term, APM Terminals Rotterdam will continue to exist as an independent organisation with a 5-year volume guarantee from parent company, A.P. APM Terminals Acclaims Maasvlakte II

The APM Terminals Maasvlakte IIā€™s new rail service between the Rotterdam terminal and Venlo, a key logistics hub on the Dutch-German border has been a huge success so far, claimed the port operator.APM Terminals said that following the success of the initial five-times-per-week service, plans are already in place to scale this up to 14 times per week over the coming weeks. Venlo, a key logistics hotspot, was identified as an opportunity for the terminal following a gravity analysis involving key customers. Odfjell: Chemical Tanker Market Remains Stable

Odfjell SE has reported its results for Third Quarter 2018. Sale of Rotterdam Terminal Impacts Odfjell

Tank terminal transactions will further strengthen Odfjell SE but the company experienced another challenging quarter in the chemical tanker markets.The second quarter 2018 results reflect the impact of the sale of the Rotterdam terminal, while underlying results from Odfjell Terminals improved compared to the previous quarter. The chemical tanker market remains challenging, but Odfjellā€™s TCE performance remains stable.ā€œThe sale of our Rotterdam terminal will further strengthen Odfjell SE as a company. The planned increase in our shareholding in our j/v terminal in Antwerp will ensure a foothold in Europe, with Antwerp being the most important port for chemicals in the EU.

Vopak to Invest in Rotterdam Terminal

Vopak Rotterdam Botlek is investing in 63.000 cbm state-of-the-art stainless steel capacity (15 tanks) for the storage of Styrene and other hazardous chemicals. Styrene is a vital product used in manufacturing of a wide variety of consumer goods serving markets such as packaging, construction (for example isolation) and automotive. The new infrastructure will be fully insulated to allow for product temperature control and is designed to prevent any emissions to the environment. The new storage capacity connects seaborne trade flows via barges, block-trains and trucks to the European hinterland. Royal Vopak is the worldā€™s leading independent tank storage company.

Rotterdam Implements Paperless Container Transfers

In the near future, a physical Customs document will no longer be required to transfer containers from one Maasvlakte terminal to the other within the Port of Rotterdam. Participating terminals APMT, ECT and RWG have made agreements with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration for a so-called ā€˜paperless transferā€™ system, which, beginning July 1, 2016, will considerably reduce the administrative workload ā€“ particularly for shipping lines ā€“ and simplify the exchange of containers between Maasvlakteā€™s five deep-sea terminals.

Dubai World Launches Rotterdam Terminal

DP World, together with joint-venture partners APL, HMM, MOL and CMA-CGM, has officially opened the Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) terminal, providing the global supply chain with the most innovative and automated container terminal in the world. The RWG terminal s able to handle the largest container vessels afloat in the most efficient and reliable way due to its innovative character, reports Gulf News. The new terminal is also highly automated and currently employs 180, of which many are IT specialist due to the high level of innovation. LBC Tank Terminals, Rotterdam Port Invest in New Jetty

The Port of Rotterdam and the independent storage company LBC Tank Terminals have reached a long term agreement for the construction of a new jetty at the LBC terminal in Botlek, Rotterdam. ā€˜This new jetty is the first and a very important step in the expansion of our terminal in Rotterdam. The growing import of liquid chemicals into Europe results in an increasing demand for liquid storage tanks in hubs such as Rotterdam. This investment will enable us to offer additional capacity and to respond even better to the storage requests of existing and new customersā€™, explains Luc Jorissen, Business President at LBC. The new jetty will have four berths, two for seagoing vessels and two for barges. This will quadruple the jetty capacity of the LBC terminal.

Liebherr Container Cranes Commission Seven in Rotterdam Terminal

Irelandā€™s Liebherr Container Cranes say they have recently commissioned seven straddle carriers at ECT Delta Terminal in Rotterdam. The straddle carriers operate in the landside interface zone, shuttling between the automatic stacking cranes and trucks. In addition the straddles will handle multi trailers for intra terminal transfer for onward transport by train or barge. The Liebherr straddle carriers are linked to a remote positional tracking system, providing real-time accurate information on the position and handling rates of containers within the terminal.

Odfjell Reports Weak Q4 2012 Chemical Tankship Market

Tankship & terminal storage owners/operators Odfjell also noted significant losses at their Rotterdam terminal in its Q4 2012 report. Jan A. The chemical tanker market improved seasonally towards the end of the year. Volumes shipped remained on par with the previous quarter. Earnings on a time-charter basis were up 7.8% compared to third quarter. Freight rates per tonne shipped increased by about 10%. The average price on bunkers purchased in the quarter remained high. Odfjell Finalizes Transaction with Lindsay Goldberg

Odfjell announced it has closed the transaction to form the strategic partnership with Lindsay Goldberg. Through the transaction, Lindsay Goldberg has acquired a 49% interest in each of Odfjell's tank terminals in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Houston, Texas as well as in the greenfield project in Charleston, SC. Odfjell retains the remaining 51% ownership stake. Odfjell has received a total cash consideration of $247m in connection with the transaction, and the parties will invest a total of EUR 25 million of new equity to facilitate planned upgrades and capacity expansion of the Rotterdam terminal.

Double Maiden Call

On January 22, the port of Rotterdam welcomes two maiden calls of post-Panamax container vessels at the same day. "K"Line's "Rotterdam Bridge" (5500 TEU) is moored at Morcon Rotterdam Terminal in the Waalhaven area. The "Debussy" (6600 TEU) of CMA CGM will get its name at the ECT Delta Terminal. Lady Sponsor is Kerstin Larsson, wife of Schenker CEO Håkan Larsson.

Cobelfret Starts New Service

April 23 Cobelfret Ferries starts a new service Rotterdam-Purfleet (Thames, near London). Initial frequency is once a day in both directions. In due course the company wants to offer two daily sailings. Cobelfret already runs a daily service Rotterdam-Immingham. Both services will be handled on the recently acquired dedicated Rotterdam terminal.

Maersk to Expand Rotterdam Terminal

In July Maersk Delta Terminal will be expanded to 70 ha. (+16), with 1,250 meters of quay (+300 m.) and 8 (+3) gantry cranes. Capacity rises from 500,000 to one million containers a year. In 2001 the terminal handled 440,000 boxes (660,000 TEU). It is not expected that maximum capacity (1.3 million moves, 85 ha., and 1,700 meters of quay) will be reached before 2004.
