Vard to Design, Build Cable Layer for NCT Offshore

Shipbuilder and designer Vard, part of Fincantieri, said Friday that it had secured a contract to design and build a cable laying vessel for NCT Offshore in Denmark.The VARD 9 01 design vessel is designed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway. The hull will be built at Vard Tulcea in Romania, while the final outfitting, commissioning, and delivery will be carried out by one of Vard’s shipyards in Norway. The cable layer, which will be about 95 meters long and have a beam of about 21,5 meters, is scheduled for delivery in Q4 2024.

DOF's Skandi Achiever DSV to Stay with Petrobras Until 4Q 2022

Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF Subsea has won more work in Brazil with Petrobras.After a recent three-year contract secured for a pipelay support vessel duo co-owned with TechnipFMC, DOF Subsea said Thursday it had secured a contract extension with Petrobras for the diving support vessel Skandi Achiever.The extension will see the Skandi Achiever stay with Petrobras until the fourth quarter of 2022, providing ROV and diving services until the fourth quarter of 2022. DOF did not share the financial details.Built in 2007, the Skandi Achiever is 105.9 meters long and can accommodate 100 persons, and features an 18 men saturated diving system.The vessel has a 4.2 x 4.2-meter moonpool, and an ROV hangar of 137 square meters.TechnipFMC Says Vessel Contract with Petrobras 'Significant'

New Owners, New Name for the Polar King CSV

Oslo-listed offshore vessel owner GC Rieber Shipping last week completed the sale of its Polar King construction support vessel to, at the time, unnamed buyers.It has now been revealed that the 2011-built vessel was sold to the Greek-based Asso Group who took delivery of the vessel last week in Eydehavn, Norway. The vessel, to be renamed Argo, measures 110m in length, 20m in beam, has a Gross Registered Tonnage of 7,238, and features an ROV Hangar housing 2 Perry Slingsby work-class ROVs…

MMT Contract for Stril Explorer

Swedish marine support services company MMT AB has awarded a contract of 18 months to Simon Møkster Shipping for charter of the Stril Explorer.   The Multi Purpose Support Vessel (MPSV) has been on contract to MMT since April 2014 and Møkster is proud to strengthen its relationship with MMT moving forward.    The vessel will be used in various survey related projects by MMT.   Stril Explorer is a DP2 MPSV with a large open deck and is very suitable for launch and recovery operation, for example with ROV´s, ROTV´s AUV and geotechnical equipment.     Stril Explorer has one main ROV hangar, suitable for 2 x WROV, launching through hangar port/stb side doors.   The vessel is on a long term charter agreement  and is equipped with the latest marine survey technology.

2 Well-intervention Vessels to Feature MacGregor's Access Equipment

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract from German shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau Gesellschaft (FSG) for the complete delivery of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) access doors and hatches for two well-intervention vessels (WIVs). The WIVs are destined for service with the Norwegian offshore operator, Siem Offshore. The order was booked into the second quarter 2014 order intake. "MacGregor has a strong position in the market to provide a broad spectrum of access equipment to the shipyards building these types of ships," says Stefan Wide, responsible for access equipment sales at MacGregor. The two 158m vessels require MacGregor cargo access equipment ranging from flush modular 'plug and play' deck hatches to heavy-duty ROV hangar doors.

New Vessel in MMT's Survey Fleet

In what it calls a natural step in the process of expanded subsea services in the oil and gas industry, MMT has signed a two-year charter contract for M/V Stril Explorer, operated by Simon Mökster Shipping AS. MMT said it has conducted various survey assignments from this vessel during several projects in the past. M/V Stril Explorer is an DP2 offshore vessel with a large open deck and is very suitable for launch and recovery operation, for example with ROVs, AUV and geotechnical equipment. The vessel is equipped with a 60 T offshore crane with a working depth of 1,500 m.

Vard to Build Harkland Offshore DSC Vessel

Vard Holdings says it has secured a contract with a new customer, Harkand Group (Harkand), for the design and construction of a Diving Support and Construction (DSC) Vessel. The value of the contract exceeds NOK 1 billion. The vessel is scheduled for delivery from Vard Søviknes in Norway in 2Q 2016. and the hull is to be delivered from Vard Tulcea in Romania. The contract includes an option for a second similar DSC vessel. This autumn, the vessel will be installing a series of production trees on the seabed in the Norwegian Sea for a Norwegian oil company. This is a complicated operation, but we are confident, that with the right crew, this vessel is the best equipment for the job.

STX Marine Awarded Eastern Shipbuilding Contracts

STX Marine will provide the designs for two new contracts recently secured by Eastern Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Fla. The first contract is for a 310-ft Multi-Purpose Light Construction Vessel for Harvey Gulf International LLC. The new LCV300, to be named Harver Deep-Sea, will be an enhanced version of the STX Marine’s SV300 currently being constructed for Harvey Gulf Marine at Eastern Shipbuilding and will include accommodation for 71 persons; a 165 tonne AHC deck crane; moonpool; stern roller; helideck; fifi ll and ROV hangar.

Ulstein sells Karianne to Island Offshore

Ulstein Verft has sold the construction vessel Karianne of SX121 type design to Island Offshore. The vessel was completed on time from ULSTEIN in the fourth quarter of 2010. The vessel was originally contracted by the shipping company Marine Subsea, which could not to take delivery of her after completion. CEO Gunvor Ulstein says she is very pleased that this advanced construction vessel will be in the hands of an experienced and established shipping company. - More and more oil installations are now seabed facilities, and we’re seeing an increasing demand for subsea and construction vessels.

Ulstein OCV Vessel Delivered

Yard number 283 Sarah, type Ulstein SX121 Offshore Construction Vessel, was delivered to Marine Subsea on December 16. The vessel has been designed and constructed by Ulstein Group. The Ulstein SX121 offshore construction vessel features the characteristic Ulstein X-Bow, enabling her to operate under all weather conditions while remaining steady and comfortable for the crew. Equipped for 100 persons, the vessel is 393.7 ft long and 82 ft wide. She has a tower, moonpool, ROV hangar, crane and helideck. This is oil service company Marine Subsea’s first vessel from the Ulstein Group.

Normand Clipper Converted to Pipe-Lay Vessel

Last December, Ulstein Verft AS won the contract to convert shipowner Solstad’s cable-laying vessel Normand Clipper into a pipe-laying and offshore construction vessel. The conversion work is as extensive as the building of a new platform supply vessel. Rebuilding will be finished by the end of May, at which time the vessel will go straight to work in the English sector. “The conversion is extensive, and the work involved for Ulstein can be compared to that required for the construction of a new platform supply vessel. The entire work process is to be finished within the course of five months. Preparatory work began in December 2004, when the rigging and cable-laying equipment was brought ashore. Bunkers still inside the vessel were removed, and the tanks drained of gas.

Ulstein Builds for Marine Subsea

Marine Subsea Inc. signed a contract with Ulstein Verft for building an offshore construction vessel specialized in inspection, maintenance and repair operations (IMR/OCV) of the ULSTEIN SX121 design from Ulstein Design. The value of the contract is about $154.6m. The ship will be delivered in 2010 and is the fourth vessel of the type ULSTEIN SX121 from Ulstein Design. The vessel will be yard number 287 at Ulstein Verft. Marine Subsea Inc. has previously contracted a similar vessel from Ulstein Verft for delivery in July 2009. ”We have great faith in the Ulstein Group and are very satisfied working with Ulstein so far. In a pressured market with many delays in both equipment and deliveries, it is important to have a good dialog with the shipyard.

Aker Yards has entered into a contract with Farstad Shipping ASA for building of four AHTS Vessels with a value of approx $321m. The vessels to be built are 87.4 m x 21 m Multifunctional Deep Water Anchor Handling/Tug/Supply/Service Vessels, based on the Rolls-Royce design; UT 731 CD. The Vessels are scheduled for delivery from Aker Yards, Langsten in the second and third quarter of 2009, and the first and second quarter of 2010. The vessels will also be equipped to perform ROV services through a dedicated ROV hangar. The vessels will have a Bollard Pull of 230 tons, and will be outfitted with all equipment necessary to support the most challenging operations and environments world wide.
