Drone Attack: Russia Suspends Operations at Ust-Luga
Russian energy company Novatek said on Sunday it had been forced to suspend some operations at a huge Baltic Sea fuel export terminal due to a fire started by what Ukrainian media said was a drone attack.The giant Ust-Luga complex, located on the Gulf of Finland about 170 km (110 miles) west of St. Petersburg, is used to ship oil and gas products to international markets. Polish Seaborne LPG Import Growth Slowed to 7% in 2023
Growth in sea-borne imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Poland slowed 7% last year to 1.084 million metric tons, from a jump of more than 70% in 2022, with sea terminals working almost at capacity, according to traders and LSEG data.Sea-borne imports account for some 35% of total LPG supplies to Poland, while deliveries by rail was more than 50%.Poland also remained the main destination for Russian LPG, which was banned by the European Union last month over the conflict…
Surgut Awards Glencore Right to Crude Oil in Tender
Russia's third-largest oil producer Surgutneftegaz has awarded Glencore the right to lift 1.2 million tonnes of crude oil from Russian Baltic Sea ports, traders said on Thursday. Med Crude-Urals Stronger in Baltic as Surgut Sells Cargoes
Russian Urals crude price differentials strengthened in the Baltic in a spot tender on Tuesday after loading schedules confirmed scarce export volumes for May. There was no deals in the Platts window, traders said while adding that trader Talmay won spot tenders by oil firm Surgut to lift two cargoes of Urals loading at the Baltic port of Ust-Luga. The price for cargoes loading on May 15-16 and 21-22 was pegged at around dated Brent minus 85-90 cents a barrel, when adding freight to the original FOB-basis price, some 20-25 cents stronger than previous price estimates. Talmay was believed to have resold barrels to China's Unipec, traders added. On Monday, a loading schedule for Russian Baltic Sea ports showed the total number of cargoes dropping to 53 in May from 62 in April.
Russian Shipyards Deliver Tugboat, Short-Sea Bulk Carrier
The sixth short-sea multi-purpose bulk carrier for North-West Shipping Co., named 'Neva Leader' has been delivered by the Nevsky Shipyard, as part of a project by Marine Engineering Bureau-Design-SPb, JSC. The tugboat RB-401 was built by Pella Shipyard for port operations in Kalingra, and to support the Russian Baltic Sea Fleet. The shipbuilder explains that multi-purpose dry-cargo vessels of deadweight more than 7000 tons RSD49 project are the largest of the existing dry-cargo vessels of the 'river-sea' type in Russia.
Sharp Surge in Russian Traffic via Hamburg
Russia is the second-most important trading partner for the Port of Hamburg in terms of seaborne container handling. With a total volume of approx. 675,000 standard containers (TEU) handled between Hamburg and the Russian ports, the volume of container traffic was up by a further 13.3 per cent in 2012, consolidating the lead in foreign trade with Europe and overseas via Hamburg. This positive trend is also attributable to Russia’s decision to join the WTO, resulting in associated simplifications in commercial law as well as the dismantling of trade barriers.
New Wilhelmsen Office in Russian Baltic Port
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has opened an office on the port of Primorsk on the Russian Baltic Sea. The company started providing its broad range of ships agency services there in December 2009, supplying first MT Atalandi, which sailed on Dec. 16, and then MT Atlas Voyager, which sailed on Dec. 20. Since then Wilhelmsen Ships Service has consistently provided to other vessels visiting the port. Primorsk Oil terminal is the final point of the Baltic Pipeline System operated by the state entity Transneft. At present, up to 65 million tons of crude oil are shipped out of the port annually, with oil delivered from the Timano-Pechorskoye oil field as well as from various fields of West Siberia and the Urals.
