BRIX Marine Launches New Pilot Boat

S5 Inks Deal with Deutsche ReGas to Manage Shuttle Tankers

S5 Agency World (S5) signed a contract with Deutsche ReGas to act as terminal agent at its new Deutsche Ostsee LNG terminal at Lubmin Port, on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast. The new LNG terminal will process LNG imports into Germany and has a regasification apacity of up to 5.2 bcm of natural gas per year. The agreement will see S5 Agency World managed the incoming clearance, pilot coordination and necessary paperwork for three shuttle tankers working between a floating storage unit moored near the port in the Baltic Sea and the floating regasification vessel Neptune at the Lubmin terminal.

Shell Launches New Trunk Piston Engine Oils

Shell Marine has unveiled its next generation Shell Argina and Shell Gadinia trunk piston oils for the medium-speed engine market. As owners face pressures to shift toward cleaner fuels that address emissions regulations, Shell said demand for distillates and low-sulphur heavy fuel oil will only increase as shipping approaches a global fuel sulphur content cap of 0.5 percent, imposed by IMO from 2020. Already, dual-fuel engines are taking an increasing share of the medium speed market.

For many managers (and analysts), sales, general and administrative costs, or SG&A, are ordinary accounting lines on an offshore services company’s ledger. Shell Offers Smooth Transition to ECAs

The shipping world has been settling down to new restrictions on sulphur content in fuel, introduced after January 1, 2015 in ECAs. Ships in the Baltic Sea, North Sea, English Channel, and waters 200 nautical miles from the coast of U.S. and Canada now need to operate on fuels with a maximum 0.1 percent sulphur content. Work in progress at Giglio to complete the installation of S5 Work is in progress at Giglio to complete the installation of S5, the eighth of the 15 sponsons to be positioned on the starboard side of the Concordia. In the meantime, remediation activity on sponson S13 has been completed in Genoa and the sponson departed from Genoa May 31 on board pontoon MAK, having been now renamed S18. Agent-Operator Collaboration Brought into Veslink

Veson Nautical announced the release of the Veslink Agent Portal, a new feature of Veslink, Veson Nautical’s online service that streamlines the collection and distribution of mission-critical maritime data. The Veslink Agent Portal enables port agents to submit Statements of Facts and Port Disbursements against nominated port calls. These standardized forms flow directly into Veslink for approval by voyage operators, and can then be imported into the Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS) to drive further workflows.

SembCorp Marine Near Winning $400M Rig Job

According to reports, Oil rig and shipbuilding and shiprepair company SembCorp Marine Ltd. S5(1.SG), or SembMarine, Wednesday said it was close to winning an order to build a semi-submersible rig worth around $400 million. SembMarine said its unit, Jurong Shipyard, signed a Letter of Intent with Larsen Oil & Gas unit, PetroMena AS, to build the rig, with the construction contract taking effect in November 2005, and delivery due between the end of 2009 and early 2010.

Port of Portland Expands its Kalmar Reachstacker Fleet

The Port of Portland has awarded Kalmar an order for three DRF450-65S5 reachstackers with an option for eight additional units, further strengthening its position as one of the largest fleet owners of Kalmar reachstackers in North America. The units are scheduled for delivery in October 2007. After switching its operation from masted container handlers to reachstackers in 1999, the Port of Portland currently employs 16 Kalmar DRS4531-S5 reachstackers handling loaded containers.
