Marco Polo Marine, Seatech Solutions Move to Develop Offshore Wind Service Vessels

Singapore-based offshore shipping, shipbuilding, and ship maintenance company Marco Polo Marine has partnered up with green tech ship design company Seatech Solutions International to co-develop two new specialized offshore wind service, operation, and maintenance vessel and the commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), for the global offshore wind farm market. Incat Crowther Designs Korean Ferry

Incat Crowther has announced a contract to design a 65m catamaran passenger ferry for operation in Korea. The Incat Crowther 65 will be built by Khan Co., Ltd of Geoje-si, Korea and operated by Dolphin Shipping Co., Ltd.The vessel will provide a vital link between Pohang, on mainland Korea and the island of Ulleung-do, where it will be the second largest vessel on the route. Larger Waterjets Join Rolls-Royce Product Line

Rolls-Royce said it has added three larger stainless steel Kamewa waterjets to its product range. The new waterjets are designed for use in bigger (30m+) vessels. With fewer components, the new range is easier to install reducing the time and specialist skills required to fit them with consequent reductions in vessel build time and cost, Rolls-Royce said. The waterjets are supplied with an entire inlet, including main hydraulics, valves and even factory calibrated electronics where necessary. The pump technology uses proven waterjet technology. The whole package is pre-built and tested at the company’s Kokkola factory. The three new sizes being introduced are the S71, S80 and S90. This completes the larger steel-series size range.

The MAN B&W G60ME-C engine will satisfy IMO environmental standards as well as the shipowners' demand for fuel efficiency.

Ultra-long-stroke units play leading role in major Teekay fuel-efficient tanker project. STX Offshore & Shipbuilding announced on April 8, 2013 that it had signed a contract to build four 113,000-dwt Long Range 2 (LR2) product tankers for Teekay Tankers Ltd. (Teekay Tankers), with an option for up to an additional 12 vessels. Each newbuilding will be powered by an MAN B&W G60ME-C engine and will satisfy IMO environmental standards as well as the shipowners' demand for fuel efficiency.

With a strategy focused in innovation, SENER is going ahead in the Virtual Reality (VR) applications for shipbuilding. After the development of the second generation of a viewer, FORAN FVIEWER VR, for the virtual navigation through the ship 3D model, SENER has recently presented a new and innovating application in a Head Mounting Display (HMD). Building of First Chinese G-type Engine Confirmed

Shanghai ceremony celebrates signing of contract with CMD. At a recent ceremony in China, CMD (CSSC-MES Diesel Co., Ltd.) held the official signing of the contract to construct the first Chinese-built MAN B&W design Green Series 7G80ME-C9.2 engine. Due for delivery in June 2013, the engine is bound for a 319,000-dwt, ABS class VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) to be built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) for Maran Tankers of Greece. The G-series engine is hallmarked by its SFOC, energy efficiency and ability to meet all Tier II criteria.
