Steel Cut for Saga's Spirit of Adventure

Saga Cruises has held the steel cutting ceremony for its second new-build cruise ship at a ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.Spirit of Adventure, which launches in 2020, is the sister ship to Spirit of Discovery, which sets sail in July this year."The event took place yesterday (March 27) at the Meyer Werft shipyard, to mark the start of construction of the 999-guest vessel," said a press release from the British based cruise line, a division of the Saga Group. Sea Containers Announces Sale of Folkestone Port

Sea Containers Ltd., marine container lessor, passenger and freight transport operator and leisure industry investor, today announced that it had sold its subsidiary Folkestone Properties Ltd, owners of Folkestone Harbour on the south east coast of the United Kingdom. Contracts were signed for the port sale on July 2, 2004 and the purchase, by businessman Mr Roger De Haan who is well known as chairman of the Folkestone-based Saga Group, was completed on August 24, 2004. The sale price was $20 million (GBP11 million). President of Sea Containers Ltd., Mr James B. Sherwood, said the gain will be recorded in the company's third quarter results.

Cunard Fleet to Feature Three Queens

For the first time in its long history Cunard Line will operate three luxury liners named for British monarchs. In 2005, the line's fleet will consist of the legendary Queen Elizabeth 2, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. The 668-passenger Caronia will leave the fleet in November 2004, having been sold to the UK-based Saga Group. "With our three Queens, Cunard will truly have the most famous ocean liners in the world, offering luxury amenities, our unique Queens Grill and our signature White Star Service," according to Pamela Conover, Cunard's president. "Caronia will continue to play an important role in the fleet through the fall of 2004.
