Massimo Fontolan, of Saipem Ltd., takes on the role of President of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). Mr. Fontolan is currently Vice President Commercial, North Atlantic and Arctic at Saipem Ltd. In addition to becoming President of IMCA, he also becomes Chairman of the association's Overall Management Committee (OMC), having served as Vice President of IMCA for the past two years. In-House Build of Eleven Work-Class ROVs

Ever attentive to the dynamic demands of the oil and gas industry, Sonsub International Inc. will finalize the initial phase of its ROV new-build program with the timely delivery of two of eleven systems. Nine additional units will enter the market during the course of the year. The newbuild has been named Innovator. A high voltage power drive system (4,500v), rated in excess of 11,482 ft. water depth, the system is targeted towards a wide range of applications from deepwater construction and drilling support to pipeline and telecoms cable burial. This new-generation powerful, reliable and versatile platform has been designed to complement task-specific skids and tools, such as the Innovator Trenching Skid, a wet-mateable, 6,560 ft.

New Offshore Terminal Designs May Expedite LNG Deliveries

In the wake of announcements by the Federal Reserve about the need for more natural gas, Saipem Group, Single Buoy Moorings, Bluewater Offshore, Spectrum Energy Services, Hoegh LNG and Aker Kvaerner will discuss radically new concepts for receiving terminals at an industry meeting in Houston, June 19 and 20. "The LNG industry has typically required at least five years to put new supply chains into place. With local community opposition to onshore terminals running high, these lead-times may grow even longer," said Bob Nimocks, president of Zeus Development Corporation, a company that is conducting industry research to investigate new designs.
