FLIBS: KVH Introduces TracPhone V3-HTS

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI),  unveiled the TracPhone V3-HTS at the Fort Lauderdale (FL) International Boat Show. Thomas Chance founded C & C Technologies in his home in 1992. Today C & C is a global oil field surveying and mapping company with more than 550 employees in ten offices worldwide. C & C was the first company in the world to offer autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) survey services to the oil industry and remains a world leader in the field. In April of 2015, he sold C & C Technologies to Oceaneering International. Satcom Global Partners with Intellian on Strategic Hardware Deal

Intellian, Kymeta Announce Agreement

KVH will bring FIFA to Mariners

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) has come to an agreement with IMG Media to distribute video content of the 2014 FIFA World Cup ™ to merchant ships. IT Network for World's Largest Offshore Construction Vessel

SAM Electronics of Hamburg, an L-3 company, has been awarded a major contract for supply and installation of a comprehensive IT network and associated equipment aboard Pieter Schelte, the €1.3 billion dynamically-positioned platform installation-decommissioning and pipelay vessel being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea on behalf of Swiss-based Allseas Group SA. Expected to begin worldwide service in 2014, and with a length of 382m and width of 117m, Pieter Schelte will be the world’s largest vessel of its type. It will have a topside lift capacity of 48,000 tons, a jack lift capability of 25,000 tons and a pipelay tension proficiency of 2,000 tons, effectively doubling the capability of the world’s current largest pipelay vessel, Allseas’ Solitaire.

Thrane & Thrane Completes Sailor 900 VSAT Delivery

In partnership with PRO NAUTAS and Vizada, Thrane & Thrane has completed delivery of its sophisticated SAILOR 900 VSAT and SAILOR 500 FleetBroadband systems as part of a total communications solution for Hansa Heavy Lift’s entire fleet of 21 multipurpose heavy-lift vessels. Installation and commissioning is expected to be completed on all vessels in July 2012. Based on the Vizada XChange platform with project implementation by PRO-NAUTAS, the SAILOR 900 VSAT and SAILOR 500 FleetBroadband together ensure fully redundant global broadband connectivity and voice services.

Located just south of Seoul, South Korea, the Intellian Innovation Center is a new 71,000 sq ft, four-story building designed for increased production and technology development opportunities. R&D is the heart of the Intellian Innovation Center, offering even greater frequency of product testing with the versatility to simulate harsh marine conditions in-house.

MTN Supplies Sat-Coms for Oasis of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, has been equipped with MTN Satellite Communications’ (MTN) state-of-the-art VSAT satellite communications system. The 1,184-ft, 225,282-gross ton Oasis of the Seas carries up to 5,400 passengers and a crew of more than 2,000. The satellite communication requirements for such a massive ship presented special challenges, according to MTN. “The communications suite is a critical component for operating the ship and its passenger services,” said Max Schmidt, vice president of information technology, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “For the inaugural voyage of Oasis of the Seas, MTN supplied the highest bandwidth ever used on a single ship in the history of the cruise industry,” said Brent Horwitz, senior vice president of MTN.

Intellian Technologies New Center

Intellian Technologies, the world’s technological leader in marine satellite antennas, announced that it has begun construction on a 71,000 square foot R&D, manufacturing and shipping facility, the Intellian Center for Innovative Technologies. Scheduled for completion in February 2010, the new facility provides six R&D labs for increased product development and testing, as well as substantially increased production and shipping capabilities, to accommodate increased product demand and larger antenna solutions. Intellian Technologies has also increased the size of its North American R&D operations with the relocation of the company’s Chief Technology Officer to its Irvine California facility and an increase in staff to address the multiple carriers, and ku- and ka-band complexity.
