Intellian to Deliver SPL100 Antenna to US Navy

Satellite communication solutions provider Intellian said it has been awarded a contract by SPAWAR to deliver its new SPL100 antenna system to the U.S. Navy.The SPL100 antenna is acombined Ka- and L-band antenna system designed to provide sustained information warfare capabilities. The new antenna system provides enhanced capabilities in both the Ka- and L-band depending on operational requirements.Intellian said it was commissioned by SPAWAR to design, develop, and deliver the SPL100 product for the U.S.

ST Engineering Y-O-Y Profits Slip

Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd  reported today its full year financial results ended 31 December 2014 (FY2014) with a Group revenue of $6.54b compared to $6.63b as reported for FY2013. Profit before tax (PBT) of $650.7m was $79m or 11% lower year-on-year compared to $729.7m, and Net Profit of $532.0m was $48.8m or 8% lower year-on-year compared to $580.8m. At the business sector level, revenue for the Aerospace sector was comparable at $2.06b, and PBT was down 11% to $283m from $319.4m reported for FY2013. The Electronics sector achieved higher PBT of $184m, up 8% compared to $170.3m in FY2013 on the back of comparable year-on-year revenue of $1.58b. The Land Systems sector posted comparable year-on-year revenue of $1.4b, and a lower PBT of $56.2m, down 50% from $111.8m in FY2013.

SpeedCast Acquires Geolink Satellite Services

SpeedCast International Limited announced the acquisition of Geolink Satellite Services, part of the CETel Group. The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval. The acquisition follows SpeedCast’s acquisitions of two satellite industry players, SatComms Australia and Oceanic Broadband, in the Australasia region in the past 12 months. Beam Communications Get Order for Chinese Fishing Boat SatCom Trials

Beam Communications receives an initial order for USD 170,000 from a China based satellite communications company. This initial order follows a commitment by the Chinese entity to undertake a short trial deploying 200 Beam Oceana 400 and Oceana 800 marine communications terminals on fishing vessels in China, using the Inmarsat FleetPhone Service. Station 12 Strives To Corner Satcom Market

The competitive satellite communications market has taken an additional step toward consolidation, with Station 12 — an independent operating business owned 65 percent by KPN (Royal Dutch Telecom) and 35 percent by Telstra — leading the way having the intention of cornering the market. Station 12 recently outlined its strategy to double its size in the next three years, both through organic growth and acquisitions. Station 12 already claims to have 24 percent of the competitive Inmarsat maritime and mobile satellite communications sector, with current annual sales of $215 million. This is expected to rise to $500 million by 2003. The company is the largest customer and shareholder in Inmarsat, the leading provider of wholesale satellite airtime.
