Voyager IP Wins Irish Navy Satellite Contract

Voyager IP, the Irish marine telecoms solutions specialist, has partnered with the Irish National Space Center to win a €500,000 contract to manage the entire satellite communications service for the Irish Naval Fleet at home and abroad. Voyager IP will provide the satellite airtime, technical assistance for the onboard systems and a 24 hour helpdesk from its base in Wicklow, while the National Space Center will provide the satellite network infrastructure. Simon Coveney TD, the Irish Minister for Defense, Agriculture, Food and the Marine, officially launched the new service.

Great Lakes Beaches: EPA Satellite Data Contract

US EPA awards Blue Water Satellite contract to providie satellite data for an epidemiological study of 4 beaches. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a contract to Blue Water Satellite of Bowling Green, OH to provide unique historical data regarding the concentrations of potentially harmful Cyanobacteria, Chlorophyll-a, and Phosphorus at four Great Lakes beaches. This historical data will be used as part of an epidemiological study to potentially correlate concentrations of various biological constituents with human health effects.

Canadian Radar Satellite Contract for MDA

MacDonald, Dettwiler & Associates Ltd. win Canadian Space Agency $706 million contract to build, launch & provide initial operations for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM). The RCM is designed for three main uses: maritime surveillance (ice, wind, oil pollution and ship monitoring); disaster management (mitigation, warning, response and recovery) and ecosystem monitoring (forestry, agriculture, wetlands and coastal change monitoring). The contract is expected to extend over a period of seven years and brings MDA’s current backlog to approximately $2.9 billion.

Marlink Renews Contract with Telenor

Marlink renews and increases satellite contract with Telenor Satellite Broadcasting; More flexibility provides growing value for Marlink customers. Marlink, a maritime VSAT service provider recently acquired by Astrium, announced an agreement with Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) , a satellite provider of broadcast and data services throughout Europe and the Middle East, to renew and increase Marlink’s capacity  for the next three years. Utilising TSBc’s IS 10-02 high powered satellite capacity , located at  the prime orbital location , 1°West, Marlink is able to meet the future requirements of its many maritime customers  in the busy oceanic areas of the Nordic, European and Middle Eastern regions.
