SES, Satcom Global Sign Agreement for Ku-band Network

SES S.A. has announced  that Satcom Global, a provider of global satellite communications services to the maritime and land sectors, will become a key partner for SES. The differentiated mobility solution will form a crucial part of Satcom Global’s new Ku-band VSAT service, Aura, providing seamless, reliable and high-speed connectivity to hundreds of maritime, offshore and land customers. The agreement provides Satcom Global with seamless access to SES's satellite fleet and upcoming next generation hybrid satellites with high throughput payloads.

BIG DATA: First Intelsat EpicNG Satellite Launched

The launch yesterday of  the Intelsat 29e, the first of the Intelsat EpicNG high throughput satellites, promises to usher in a new era of "Big Data" in the maritime sector, among others. The satellite was launched from French Guiana aboard an Ariane 5 vehicle. Manufactured by Boeing and equipped with advanced digital payload, Intelsat 29e will bring high throughput capacity in both C- and Ku-band to North and Latin America and the North Atlantic region. Intelsat 29e will be placed into service at 310° East, where it replaces Intelsat 1R.

Inmarsat Expands Presence in Singapore

Intelsat, Kymeta Enter Satellite Tech Partnership

Intelsat S.A. and Kymeta Corporation today announced an agreement to design and produce flat, electronically steerable, Ku-band satellite antenna solutions for the Intelsat EpicNG high throughput satellite (HTS) platform. The first Intelsat EpicNG satellite is expected to launch in late 2015. Kymeta’s flat and thin satellite tracking antennas will be designed to work with Intelsat’s satellite fleet, providing connectivity in sectors for which traditional antennas are not currently practical or feasible, including the maritime industry.

Intelsat Contributes Communications Infrastructure for Relief Efforts

Intelsat S.A., a provider of satellite services, has provided an update on its satellite capacity and other critical connectivities being used in a number of restoration initiatives in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan. Immediately after the disaster occurred, Intelsat began working with customers and partners to ensure that the necessary infrastructure and satellite capacity were in place to accelerate the restoration of vital communications for relief workers and businesses in the Philippines.

Inmarsat Alphasat Satellite Launch Successfrul

Inmarsat provider of global mobile satellite communications services, confirms the successful launch of Alphasat, the largest satellite, designated I-4A F4. Alphasat was launched on an Ariane 5 ECA, the latest version of the Ariane 5 launcher, from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana at 20.54hrs BST on 25th July (16.54hrs Kourou local time). Arianespace confirmed a successful spacecraft separation at 27 minutes 45 seconds after launch and the Alphasat Mission Operations Team confirmed telemetry reception and that they have command of the satellite at 21.47 BST.

Intelsat Expands in North American Energy Sector

Intelsat S.A. said it signed a multi-year agreement with Digital Networks to provide capacity via its satellite fleet and IntelsatOne terrestrial network, enabling Digital Networks to more effectively support very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communications networks in North America. Digital Networks will leverage Intelsat's teleport services and capacity on the Galaxy 3C satellite to expand its network in the United States and Canada. "This agreement will enable Digital Networks to quadruple its available throughput for delivering integrated voice, data and real-time applications for our energy customers," said Digital Networks CEO Curtis Blankenship.

SoftBank Mobile Utilizes Intelsat's Hybrid Solution in Japan

Intelsat S.A. entered an agreement with SoftBank Mobile Corp. for the provision of managed network services in Japan. SoftBank Mobile signed a multi-year, multi-transponder agreement using capacity on Intelsat 8 at 169º East and the fully managed IntelsatOne terrestrial network. SoftBank Mobile will use Intelsat's solutions to complete infrastructure for cellular and data backhaul services to its customers throughout the southern islands of Japan. Additionally, Intelsat will provide local licensing support to SoftBank Mobile for VSAT terminals, certain equipment and customized operations. Intelsat Reports 4Q and Full Year 2012 Results

Intelsat S.A. reported financial results for the 2012 fourth quarter and full year. Intelsat S.A. reported revenue of $672.4 million and a net loss of $3.7 million for the three months ended December 31, 2012. The company also reported Intelsat S.A. EBITDA1, or earnings before net interest, loss on early extinguishment of debt, taxes and depreciation and amortization, of $520.0 million, and Intelsat S.A. Adjusted EBITDA1 of $516.5 million, or 77 percent of revenue, for the three months ended December 31, 2012. For the 12 months ended December 31, 2012, Intelsat S.A.

Astrium Extends Agreement with Intelsat

Astrium Services, a global provider of satellite communications-enabled solutions, and Intelsat S.A., a provider of satellite services, signed a multi-year renewal agreement for C-band capacity to be used by Astrium Services' maritime customers in the Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean, North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. The agreement will enable the new Business Communications unit of Astrium Services to continue meeting the high bandwidth requirements of C-band customized VSAT users, and supports broadband and expanded capabilities in the cruise, ferry and offshore sectors. Astrium Services will use C-band capacity on Intelsat 907 at 332.5° East to provide fast, reliable data connectivity and voice communication for passengers and operational purposes.

Global IP Extends Mobility Offering with Intelsat

Global IP to introduce Ku-band maritime services to oil, gas and energy customers across the vast Indian Ocean region. Intelsat S.A., a  provider of satellite services, announced today that Spain-based Global IP, a provider of satellite communications for maritime, energy and corporate customers, has signed multi-year agreements allowing it to provide broadband service to its maritime customers in the Indian Ocean region. Global IP will use capacity on Intelsat 22 at 72° East, Intelsat 702 at 33° East, and the IntelsatOneSM terrestrial network to introduce advanced mobility services. Global IP will collocate its DVB-S2 high-throughput platform at Intelsat's teleport in Fuchsstadt, Germany, enabling access to the IntelsatOne infrastructure and Intelsat's satellite fleet.

Intelsat Announces the Intelsat EpicNG Satellite Platform

Intelsat S.A  has introduced the Intelsat EpicNG satellite platform, a new series of satellites based upon a high performance, open architecture design. Intelsat EpicNG will be deployed for wireless and fixed telecommunications, enterprise, mobility, video and government applications requiring broadband infrastructure across the major continents. The Intelsat EpicNG platform is an innovative approach to satellite and network architecture utilizing multiple frequency bands, wide beams, spot beams and frequency reuse technology. A complementary overlay, Intelsat EpicNG will be fully integrated with Intelsat's existing satellite fleet and global IntelsatONESM terrestrial network.

Intelsat Picks MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. for Satellite Servicing

Intelsat S.A., the world's leading provider of fixed satellite services, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. ("MDA") for the servicing of Intelsat's on-orbit satellites via a space-based service vehicle to be provided by MDA. The innovative technology has the potential to extend the useful lives of Intelsat's satellites and enhance in-orbit reliability. The services provided by MDA to Intelsat under this agreement are valued at more than US$280 million over the timeframe during which services will be delivered.
